[Friday]
AWESOME.
I've been at the airport for four hours now, and our plane hasn't even arrived. The delay is such that the plane for the next flight to Minneapolis has arrived, and they're letting everyone on the 4:50 flight have it, and keeping us 2:30 people waiting for the next plane. So Friday, when I was heading to campus (in the storm) to take a final, I ended up waiting for the bus with a bunch of international students who were freaking out about the storm, because the Detroit airport was shutting down, and the campus closes the dorms, and they were terrified they would have nowhere to go. People were actually discussing HIRING A CAB to DRIVE them through the storm to Chicago.
I can't even begin to fathom a) how much that would cost and b) what insane cab driver would have agreed to do that.
But I felt really bad for everyone trying to leave on Friday, which was, at least, most of the law school. I'm not sure how much of the overall university was still here, but only the 1Ls and a couple take home finals were on Friday, so the majority of people were flying out after finishing on Thursday.
Oddly, I just heard from one of the interns this summer, who was coming in from Boston. His plane got routed through Cincinnati and he spent hours there trying to get to Detroit.
While it "feels like" 30 degrees in Covington, it "feels like" NEGATIVE 33 DEGREES here.
You know, I was thinking earlier that I wished I'd gone with you this year, but, um, NEVER MIND. It is currently 19 degrees and feels like 19 degrees and really, that's too cold for me as it is.
What, exactly, does negative 33 degrees feel like? DEATH? HELL? I CANNOT COMPREHEND THAT NUMBER!
The Niece is adorable. I miss you, and your family.
