Ha! I've cracked her! The Toddler Who Would Not Smile!
Boy, I had given up on this one. There are two toddlers in the on-site daycare at my office. I've spent the entire summer trying to get this kid to smile at me, even a little. This is what I do, people. I charm babies and small children. It's my thing. This girl would not give in, though. I was throwing all my best material at her, and nothing.
I did get a wave once, and tried to console myself that it was enough. But no! This morning, only moments ago, she was walking in the front door with her mom and she looked right at me and smiled! It's true! I was taken aback at such an outward display of affection.
My work here is done. Actually, I'm done working here tomorrow, but now I'll really be done. I set a goal for myself, and I have achieved it. Thank you.
