I win the "There is Life Outside Your Apartment" prize today

I've just come home from a long walk ending up at Tenney Park, which is next to Tenney Beach.  I wandered out to the end of the docks and the little bay area, took some pics, and wandered over to the beach itself.  I then whipped out my handy dandy Backpack of Preparedness and laid out my towel, sunblock, iPod, sweatshirt, waterbottle, and Sweet Potato Queens book.  I spent over an hour just lounging about there.  I didn't actually fall sleep, but I half-dozed for awhile, listening to my "Soothing" playlist half the time and to the waves the other half.

I even went wading!  My jeans were big enough to roll up, so I walked around in Lake Mendota today.  I stood in the goopy sand for awhile, just sinking and sinking and watching the clouds.  It was lovely.  It was exactly what I needed after a week of miserable rainy weather.  I really need sunshine in my life.  You see what happens when I go without.  I'm finally feeling almost centered again.

I took a different route home to gawk at all the mansions.  Wow.  Holy Rich People, Batman.  Good lord.  It all lasted just the right amount of time, and now I'm pleasantly home again.  I made myself a nice lunch earlier today (sour cream and chive pasta mix and green beans) and ate it on the porch, but now I'm hungry again.  I don't plan on drinking much at the party tonight, but I'd better eat heartily just in case.  Now, where are those leftover cheese sticks ...

(there were actually people playing volleyball in this lake of a court, but they were gone by the time I got the camera out)
