A Day in the Life of a Grad Student with a Paper to Write

May 07, 2006 02:34

1:37pm - Sigh.  It's not good when you send an excerpt to the prof, and in her reply she recommends structuring it thematically, and you kinda thought you already had.  Um, thanks.

2:28 pm - ARGH!  Just WRITE something already.  I've been organizing and re-reading and reconsidering and looking up citations and reformatting for an hour now.  Get off your ass and write something, Guildenstern.  Anything.

2:29pm - Hungry.  Time for lunch.  I need a break from all this writing.

3:20pm - Much better.  Also, a little more caught up on my romance novel reading.  Highly important.

5:14pm - rm_renfield is here.  Now we'll get some work done.  If by "work" you mean "chatting about various pop culture items and people and academia and anything that is not actually our intended tasks."

8:40pm - Ouch.  It sincerely pains me to type "I Hate Ana-Lucia" into Google.  It's research!  It must be done!  It's not true!  Please forgive me!

11:20pm - Okay, dinner and VM break over.  Time to work.

1:03am - Why does it take so much EFFORT?  Why must I agonize over every word in every sentence?  I have to quit picking paper topics I actually care about.  It's really slowing me down, man.

2:08 am - Sigh.  Pages written today: 4.  Pages revised: 8.  Firefox Extensions discovered, installed, and played with: 15.
