Fuzzy LFN Memories
MAN. Man, oh man, did I love this show. I've just watched "Hard Landing" and "Spec Ops" for the first time in years. They age pretty well! I don't remember quite so many dramatic, lingering close-ups on the actor's eyes, but overall, still very compelling television.
I don't think I have ever been more excited for an episode of television than I was for the S2 premiere of Nikita. Seriously. I worked myself up into such a tizzy that fall, waiting for that ep. I used to stay up late watching USA, waiting for promos so I could tape them. I still remember the date it finally aired - January 4th, 1998. There was an ice storm that night, and my LFN friend couldn't come over for our planned party (she made sunglasses-shaped cake and everything!)
To this day, nothing has ever been more suspenseful than that hiatus for me. And it delivered! I mean, god, can you imagine the expectations I had built up by then? And boom, they do it. They pull it off. They earn that plot development, which was a tall order. And is there anything hotter than the M/N reunion? (Answer: No)
I may have moved on to other fandoms, but there's still that spark of LFaNatic in me - at the end of "Spec Ops," Michael blinked and my heart leapt. No, really. In total seriousness, I thought to myself, "God, that man emotes so much when he closes his eyes just like that." It's a sickness!
And dude, I forgot about some of those lines - You never had me ... Sometimes all we have is our dreams ... Be patient ... Get over it. Whew!
Question for the tiny handful of LFN fans on my flist - pathetically, I cannot remember if this is canon or something I read in a fic: Did Jurgen ever break Michael's right arm in order to force him to learn to use his left?
(ahh, remember how we spent the whole autumn calling him "Yurgen" before we found out they were pronouncing the J the American way?)
[for those wondering, this was a dinner break, and totally allowed on the Comps Preparation Schedule]
[also, I fast-forwarded through the missions, so it wasn't even the full length of the eps]
[not that I think I have anything to explain to anyone]
[because I'm an adult who makes her own decisions and who finished a draft of the Comps answer and has already read through it another two times]
[so, yes, still not defensive, just clarifying]
