ok so, here's one thing that can help if you do something creative. We talked about this a lot when I was in theatre school.

Part of the reason criticism can be so difficult is because what you are doing is an intimate part of you...You have an idea that your "art" is you.

But really, its a job. You need to find a way to realize that when people criticize your clothes, they are not saying "You are a bad person", they are saying "I think you should change something about this thing that is separate from you."

If you can find a way to disconnect a bit, it helps you take criticism in stride, and not be as angry when supposedly important people say dumb things about something that's important to you.

Its a double edged sword though because part of what helps keep you creative is a strong connection to what you are doing. Being able to disconnect and reconnect to something is important and EXTREMELY difficult. The fact that I couldn't really do it is part of the reason why I work at a grocery store now.

Also remember that no matter how ego-driven and inane your teachers are, NOW is the easiest time to learn from other people. When you are out in the real world you will be able to say "F-you" to anybody who rains on your parade, right now you get to stretch your horizons in a "safe" environment.

Wow, I think I just blogged your blog. Sorry for going off, but I remember feeling just the way you did when I finished school and I've thought a lot about how I was when I was there since I've been out.

No matter what Nicole, you're freaking awesome and interesting. Everything else is just stuff you do.
