Summary: Eli misbehaved for the last time and his mother sent him off to a private school. There he meets Kevin and his world is thrown upside down.
After Eli was done getting dressed and taking care of his luggage mountain (though it was half-hearted) Kevin brought Eli to a café right across the street from the dorms.
“Me and Kiseop-ah always eat breakfast at this café, they make the best breakfast ever and Kiseop are really picky when it comes to food. So we always eat here..” Kevin explained as Eli followed him across the street. Kiseop was already there waiting for them. He looked surprised to see Eli with Kevin but he smiled gently nonetheless. He looked almost like a zombie and Eli wondered if Kiseop really had slept the night before. He looked like he was able to fall asleep standing. Kiseop gave Kevin a tight hug like it was years since they last saw each other. Eli could swear they would kiss if he wasn't present. Kiseop then turned to Eli and gave him a smile again, a smile only reserved for Eli. Eli felt a tug at his heart, that guy was just as adorable as Kevin, though in a different way.
“I'm so happy Kevin brought you with him.” Kiseop said silently, his voice a little raspy because he just woke up. Eli couldn't resist the urge to smile. It was his first real smile since he got there. Maybe being sent to a private school wasn't so bad if he was going to be surrounded by these two boys. They were far too pretty to be human.
“Omo... Kiseop-ah! You got him to smile!” Kevin said cheerfully and practically stared at Eli's face. Eli felt a little uncomfortable under Kevin's stare and his smile disappeared as fast as it had appeared.
“AH. Eli-sshi... I'm sorry.. I just.. I like your smile...”
“You do?” Eli thought that was a really weird comment to make.
“Yes!”
“Kevin have this obsession with lips.” Kiseop just commented and grinned towards Kevin.
“I DO NOT!” Kevin protested.
“Oh yes you do Kevin-babe. Why else would you stare at MY lips like a lovestruck schoolboy in class everyday?” Kiseop said and gave Kevin another of those adorable smiles that managed to make anyones heart melt.
“Sometimes, I REALLY hate you.” Kevin just said and glared at the other boy.
“No you don't. You REALLY love me.”
“Can you believe this guy?” Kevin asked as he turned to Eli. Eli had stayed quiet for a while, just watching the two. They really looked like an old couple, Kevin was a totally different person around Kiseop. They were kinda cute.
“Uhm...”
“Whatever, let's go eat now...” Kiseop just said and went inside. Kevin and Eli following just seconds later.
Eli felt at ease the moment he stepped inside that café. It was perfect. He knew why Kiseop demanded that they'd eat there every morning. They settled down and Kevin and Kiseop only glanced at the menu before ordering. They went here everyday, so they new exactly what they wanted. Eli went trough the whole menu, searching for something he could afford eating. It wasn't expensive, it was actually kinda cheap. But he didn't bring much money since his mother refused to give him any. He knew why, he didn't blame her. He decided just to order coffee. The only thing he knew he could afford to pay at the moment.
As Kevin's and Kiseop's food came in, one plate after another Eli really felt like an outsider. Kevin and Kiseop chatted happily with each other while they were eating. Eli wanted to hide when his coffee arrived. The only thing he'd ordered. Kiseop had ordered what looked like every sweet thing on the menu. He surely had a sweet tooth. Kevin just ate toast and some eggs but he did snatch one or two of Kiseop's pancakes.
“You're only having coffee for breakfast?” Kevin asked suddenly and examined Eli's cup of coffee.
“Uhm... I usually never eat breakfast.” Eli lied. He always ate breakfast, he couldn't go to school without eating at least something. But he didn't have any money like Kevin and Kiseop.
“But... You must be very hungry. You didn't eat any lunch yesterday and Soo Hyun-hyun said you didn't eat any dinner either.” Kevin continued, his voice showing signs of worry.
“I'm alright.”
“No, you've gotta eat. Just order whatever you want, I'll pay for it.” Kiseop said.
“But you...”
“I said: I'll pay for it! Just order something to eat before you piss me off!” Kiseop said a lot more forcefully this time.
Eli ended up eating the biggest breakfast he's eaten in years, but he was hungry so he didn't care. Both Kevin and Kiseop looked pleased to see him eat with such an good appetite.
“So, what do you want for lunch tomorrow, Kev?”
“But it's my turn to cook!”
“But you have to do that test again, remember? I'll just do it so you can study. So what do you wanna eat?”
“Uhm... Eli, maybe you want to decide?”
Eli who was busy chewing down his food just looked up at them, confused.
“What?”
“What do you want to eat? Just say whatever you like to eat.”
“Uhm... Curry?”
“Curry?” Kiseop gave him a weird look and Eli regretted voicing this thought. He was not the one eating this lunch anyway, so why did he ask? Maybe Kiseop didn't like curry?
“Maybe... not then.” Eli just mumbled. Embarrassed.
“No! Curry's great. I can cook that! You'll just have to help me shopping the ingredients after school. I'd ask Kevin, but he's gotta study.”
“Uh... ok...”
Eli were so confused. These guys. He didn't know how to act around them.
The second day at school was so weird. Soo Hyun was in their class that morning, claiming that he needed to talk to Kevin so bad that the teacher had to let him stay. After talking to Kevin he was kicked out and went back to his own classroom. At lunch he sat at the same table as Kiseop and Kevin. This time that Alexander guy joined them. Eli stayed out of their conversations. He had nothing to say.
In the afternoon classes he started to feel nervous as he realized that after his last class he'd promised to go grocery-shopping with Kiseop. Alone with Kiseop. How was he going to survive this?
The school bell finally rang and the students prepared to go their respective club-activity, back to the dorm or downtown like Kiseop and Eli.
Kiseop brought him to the grocery's shop and he chatted animately with Eli all the time. Said boy was way to nervous to talk to Kiseop openly, but he tried to answer to his questions as good as he could. Kiseop seemed to want to know everything about him. But Eli refused to tell him why he was sent to the school. He didn't want Kiseop to judge him. When they were done, they started going back to the dorms. But they didn't get far until someone bumped into Kiseop so hard that he fell to the ground. He dropped his shopping bag and a few vegetables fell out.
“Ouch.”
“Sorry... oh it's you. The ugly rich boy.”
Eli just stared at the guy bumping into Kiseop. He felt that if Kiseop didn't move away from him, he would be in danger of getting hurt. After several fights at his own school he recognized the look on the other man's face. He hated Kiseop.
Kiseop just silently picked up his groceries and was about to stand up when the other guy kicked him to the ground again.
“Now that Kevin's not around...”
He never finished the sentence because Eli had hit him. The blow fell hard on his left jaw and he was going to get a nasty bruise after that. But Eli didn't care about the damaged he caused on the other guy. He'd kicked Kiseop, he would never forgive him. He hit him again and again, kicked him and hit him again.
“I swear, if you touch Kiseop again I'll hunt you down and kill you.”
Eli said before he turned his back on the guy, picked up the two grocery bags and helped Kiseop up.
“Let's go back now.” He said calmly and held Kiseop's hand as they walked back to the dorm together. He was still angry, but forced back the urge to turn around and kick that guy's ass again.
“Eli... that was so...”
“Just... don't.”
The silence between them was killing Eli, but he didn't want to hear any kind of questions from Kiseop right now.
“Who was that guy anyway?”
“Kevin's ex. He doesn't like me. He's bugging me whenever he get a chance.”
“Does Kevin know?”
“No. And don't tell him. I don't want him to confront that guy. He's horrible.”
Eli just nodded. He didn't want Kevin to get in trouble either. It was better if Eli kept this secret to himself. But he swore that if he ever saw that guy around Kiseop again... he knew he wouldn't be able to hold his temper.
“Just don't go out on you own, OK?”
“OK.” Kiseop said, giving Eli an nervous smile.
Eli just held his hand tighter and they went back to the dorm together.
