Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows

Dec 17, 2011 20:59

I saw the new Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. And since I've seen both the BBC Sherlock-series and finished off all the original Sherlock Holmes books and short stories (except: The Sign of Four)... I nearly died a bit bacause of this version of Sherlock Holmes. Jude Law is a perfect Watson (I mean it, he will always be my John Watson... even though I ADORE Martin Freeman), I must say... Robert Downey Jr. is not my favorite Sherlock, but I love him in some way or another.

(SPOILERS AHEAD, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED)

Anyway, onto the movie. The story was very fast-paced and not as thought-through as I felt with the first movie. It was not a "good" movie so to speak, but dear god, the strong hints towards Holmes/Watson were so many that I couldn't help but love the movie. I mean seriously. When John marries his Mary Morstan, Sherlock looked like he was about to cry. At a peace-meeting in Switzerland there was a dance... and Sherlock danced first with the female-lead (who is a very pretty woman indeed) and then switched to dance with Watson, and here our dear Watson exclaimed something like: "I thought you would never ask". And I tell you, at this particular scene I turned to my friend sitting beside me and exclaimed: WHAT DID THEY JUST DO?
My love for Holmes/Watson made me squeal so much. If one likes (loves) to slash Holmes and Watson, this movie is just so very perfect for you.
I was in shock for several hours after the movie, because this much hinting I don't even get from the BBC-series. And they're pretty good at hinting too. (Even the original books are pretty good at hinting at Holmes/Watson)

Anyway... a few of the most glorious scenes in this movie (not particularly in the right order):
1. Watson's stag-party. I don't even. And drunk!Watson. I love drunk!Watson <3
2. THE WEDDING. And the scene before the Wedding-scene when Watson arrives at the church with Sherlock, with a hang-over. Watson, you so cute <3
3. "dying"!Sherlock-scene. I don't even. THE ANGST. ("Did you call me a selfish bastard?" - Sherlock to John)
4. THE DANCING SCENE OMG... x2 (there's another scene when John dances with gypsies... that scene. Idek...)
5. That very awkward train-scene. You'll understand which one I mean when you watch it. I almost choked on my own breath. Watson is pretty much on top of Holmes.
(6. naked!Mycroft...idek.)

Because of all the Holmes/Watson in this movie I loved it quite a bit. So yeah. I'm so going to buy it later on. Because I need this in my life. And if one don't like to slash Holmes and Watson... one can always adore John's fashion-sense. Because he's looking so very handsome all the time. <3 (Oh British men) <3
