and you kiss your utopia goodbye every time you wake up

Friday is a particularly tasty word.
It means sleep, fun, weekend, joy, laughter, and relaxation all bundled up. You are in your last hour, and when the bell goes off, you know you have some sweet times ahead of you. As much as I like going to school (besides the whole early-morning thing, but rather seeing my friends, etc.), I REALLY like weekends.
Tonight I'm meeting Lil at the football game. I'm going with Haley to the football game too, so Olivia will get to meet some of my school friends. Then after the football game, I'm going to Haley's house to stay the night. SLEEPOVER. I haven't gone to one of those in ages, it seems. Well, I have had sleepovers, but not a huge one like this with so many people. Movies, popcorn, candy, music, talking, craziness--all the things I love so much ALL AT ONCE. Yes!

We finished "Of Mice and Men" in English. The ending was sad, but not a bad ending. Some people didn't like it, but I respect John Steinbeck for not writing a "happily ever after" ending. His stories are realistic, about the sorts of people that really exist but are often looked past, therefore his endings are realistic.

Sometimes being realistic isn't always happy. But it's always honest.

And that's just the way it is.

Sorry so short,
Love,
Niki
