Despite the strain
I toiled for years
and oft found failure
Resulting in
final uncharted thoughts
of blood
and desire
(YES! a perfect 20 words...the site requires that you use only a maximum of 20 words total. I at first found this restricting because I have a tendency to be verbose, but I've learned it actually helps my writing get better, by eliminating fancy, unnecessary phrases and cutting to the core of the poem.)
