Terra: Oh Niko, you've always felt the weight of the world on your shoulders, haven't you? (She smiles with the tiniest tender smirk)
Niko: It's strange, you know? It's like god has put me on this earth for some great purpose, except.......except, well, he never actually figured out what that purpose was, and just asked me to feel all the beauty in the world all at once, and it is like they describe...it hurts. A very genuine pain, not something like getting struck by heartbreak or the flu...much more profound.
Terra: Yes, no one person can be asked to carry such spirit for very long, or they will surely perish.
Niko: It's like Miaka told me once: "You were born 500 years too late for this world." Ignorance is truly bliss. If we were to farm wheat from sunrise until sunset, surely our happiness would be assured, as our purpose would be easily fulfilled, and no other hint or glimmer of further need would come about!
Terra: Do you really believe, my dearest, that the accumulation of the wealth of knowledge about the universe will aid you on a quest to be a kindred spirit?
Niko: Terra, I've stumbled on something incredible, and I cannot avert my mind's eye...the world, the more humanity explores it, becomes less and less or a definite article. A part of me can rest easily knowing that the scientists and mystics of the world are reaching similar ground. It's not as if the world were falling apart, either...it is simply that we may not ever be able to know it fully. It is God's signature! If we shall focus too brightly on any one thing be it too large or too small, paradoxes await.
Terra: And do you believe this is a great achievement of humanity?
Niko: Without a clear definition of what is and what isn't, we are forced to concentrate on what we can know, what we can achieve, who we can help, the suffering that we can stop...
Terra: Niko, Niko! It's okay, you have to remember, you cannot intimately love the world all at once. You will perish if you do!
Niko: You know I have no fear of that anymore.
Terra: But if death does come early, then who will you have helped?
Niko: Point well made, dearest guardian. Please go on.
Terra: (grins greatly) You must find a way to love and protect the world that preserves you as you continue your efforts. This is of major priority, do you understand?
Niko: I understand deeply, for profound pain is never easy to endure.
Terra: I believe in you like I believe the utter calm reflected by infinite snowflakes during winter. This is something you can achieve in your lifetime. Others have done it, and you can, too.
Niko: I don't quite yet trust myself to reach such a spiritual end quite yet, but my fellow sister, if you have reason to think this then I shall not start to doubt you now.
Terra: That is enough for now. Sleep well, and dream of such a future for yourself and for our world.
