I'm rather puzzled by Emily's implication that she isn't a masochist, though. Getting off on humiliation isn't a form of masochism? Of course, there's a million and one definitions of the term.
I think I also read between the lines of this AU as there being pain with the pleasure. . .however that may well be my kink rather than Emily's.
Guess that's just another good reason to re-read. Yay!

Emily definitely implies that she isn't a masochist, and then clearly proves the opposite! I would say she is a bottom, but determinedly not a sub, with tendencies towards masochism, although at this point she hasn't fully explored them yet. She would call it: 'doesn't have a problem with rough sex.' Of course, when she's drugged out of her mind that 'determinedly not a sub' becomes 'please may I lick your boots?'
Emma on the other hand is still trying to be nice. Verbal humiliation is just dirty talk to her, and if it doesn't hurt, it isn't fun. She doesn't want to break her human yet, and isn't sure quite how far she can push, but it's only a matter of time before she's had enough of pussyfooting around. (um, pun intended?)

Now, the Emily in Scott's Emma -- her I'd describe as submissive sexually. Of course, Emily is never submissive in day-to-day life, but you do write her as pretty much rolling over to Emma.
Of course, that's all quite distinct from wanting to be emotionally hurt. All the Emilies (lol) quite distinctly hate that, and sadly they're pretty much all getting hurt emotionally in one way or another.
At least you don't have them being hurt by JJ like most every other FF writer does, though. Bless you for that! Emma's so very much more creative with her sadism. . . and purposeful, of course.

I laughed so hard at Emily's last comment, "If she were about to die again, this was the way she wanted to go" that I scared my roomate a little. I loved Emma here, she's just perfect.
Thanks!
