Figured it was time for a new post

It's only been about a month! >_>;

Things have been interesting around here. At work, I got bumped up to a desk position, and that started this past Monday, so I've been learning a lot. Way more details than I expected, but I'm catching on pretty quick! =)

My schedule has been all thrown out of whack, though, because the other person they're going to hire hasn't started yet. So I'm working mornings, nights, and everywhere in between. Makes sleep that much more precious! ;)

In other exciting news, a Meijer store opened near our place--finally! They've not been too clear as to when they'd open, but last night they were. (How exciting is my life that I'm blogging about a store opening? -_-)

Anyway, we had to pick some things up so we went to check it out. Lo and behold, the parking lot lights weren't on, so getting into the store was a bit eerie. Hubby mentioned it would be a prime place for a zombie uprising.

Once inside, we were a bit gobsmacked. The ceiling of this store is lower than other stores, so it didn't feel like we were wandering in a huge box--I didn't even notice any echo. The layout was also very different from what we were expecting; dairy was in the middle of the store between the hardware and the grocery areas, which I suppose makes it nice for when you're about to leave and you realize you forgot the milk--you don't have to run all the way to the far end of the store! (BTDT, unfortunately...)

We were able to pick up our things pretty quickly, which was a good thing as this new store unfortunately attracted the subdivision mommies/daddies, completely oblivious to the space they're in, and their screaming toddlers. Seeing these scenes leaves me wondering what makes me think I'll be any good in the distant future as a mom? I just hope I have as much sense as my own mother--can't complain with how I turned out. =P

And, finally, FALL HAS ARRIVED! J'adore l'automne! I was getting so sick of $300+ power bills and 80-90 degree highs in September. Then we had a few days of 50 F overnight, then 80 F daytime highs. So annoying! We'd have the windows open overnight and then have to shut them and turn the AC back on for the afternoon. But now, it's cool enough that we can leave the windows open all the time. We got our first <$300 bill this month! WOOT!

We've also noticed that the sun is setting at around 7 pm now. That I'm not so fond of--the time change isn't until November, so we'll be stuck getting dark at 3 soon enough! Why can't we have a nice, cool climate with the sun still out past a reasonable hour?

Ah well. It's still a good season for baking, which I'm DEFINITELY looking forward to! Just need more friends to come over to help us eat the products. =P
