Imbolc Shona, and 愉快的新年金兔 (Happy Year of the Golden Rabbit)

My cold progressed into a full-blown sinus infection. Yay me. Last week I was too sick to work and this week the weather has decided no one in Michigan is going to work. My guess is about 15 inches fell overnight locally. The snow has stopped here and we even have some peeks of sunlight, but the wind is still howling blowing the snow everywhere.

The snow on the front porch has piled over the bottom of the windows.

This is what I found when I put up the garage door. I don't think I will be going anywhere today or tomorrow. At least until the county plows the road and the guy who plows my driveway can make it.

I lit candles last night for Imbolc. The actual cross-quarter day is on the 5th, but according to an Irish Celtic Pagan I once spoke to the Celts would gather on the full moon closest to the event, and a Scottish Pagan told me the new moon. I thought picking the lunar event closest to the cross quarter day would also work. Hard to believe after the blizzard that just blew through the night before that spring is 6 weeks away. I don't care what some damn rodent in Pennsylvania saw either, count the weeks between 2nd February and 20th March and you will find 6 weeks are left until the end of winter.

Today is the first day of the year of the Golden Rabbit. According to a Feng Shui economist in Hong Kong, this year will be one of taking a few cautious steps then carefully looking around to make sure the coast is clear before taking another few cautious steps. This is also a good year to make wishes. I'll take full advantage of that. I'm still grossly underemployed. I'm making almond chicken for supper and start working on that making my wish come true.

Time to make another cup of coltsfoot tea.
