In case you don't know who this pole smoker is, he is the former chairman of the Republican National Committee and ran George Bush's re election campaign in 2004. He's famous for ads like this:
Of course, now that we can all pretend to be shocked over the mind blowing news there's another goddamn faggot in the Republican party, how long before we can all pretend to be shocked when another blast from the Bush administration's past "surprises" us with his "news" that he's gay too? The pillow biter I will never forget is none other than our favorite DC rent boy turned "journalist", Jeff Gannon aka James Guckert.
The reason I will never forget him? No, not his involvement with the Valerie Plame outing, which was pretty damn shocking all by itself five years ago. The reason I will never forget him comes from the fact that on the same day his "cover" was blown for being a fake journalist, a real journalist named Hunter S. Thompson blew his head off with a shotgun in his home in Colorado.
This is where Bill Hicks would come in and point out the irony of that fact.
Jeff Gannon got the attention of the Washington Press Corps when he made an annoying habit of derailing the current line of questioning that might make Good Ole George look bad and asking softball questions to help him out.
There was even speculation that Jeff Gannon's outing and Hunter S. Thompson's suicide were related. I've read the article several times, and can't help but think it sounds too conspiracy theoryish to be true. Or my brain just doesn't want it to be true. The notion that Hunter S. Thompson was part of the very thing he ranted and raved about seems hard to believe. But that may be why it's plausible.
This isn't the first time either for male prostitution to be a part of the Republican controlled White House when a Bush is involved. The Franklin Cover-up was covered up pretty damn fast, and Craig Spence killed himself before he could talk about the fact that there were midnight tours of the White House taking place with teen age boys as young as 15.
So yeah, thanks a bunch mainstream media for making a big deal out of something that was news 5 years ago, but you refused to say anything about it, and even heckled and bad-mouthed the people who did bother to say something about it. Your grade for this class is an F.
