on Dutch music charts...

Just watching the TMF top 40; it's kinda bizzarre...

The fact that I'm watching the chart at all is weird in itself - I put it on as I was finishing breakfast, and it happened to start on Kelly Clarkson's "Because of You" [thankfully I managed not to burst into tears while it was on, which has happened in the past; watching her do it live was quite moving - I'd never really paid attention to it before then, but I now associate with quite a lot!].

In hindsight, it was just as well I didn't switch off right there and then - it's been a pretty fun experience watching all the videos! Anyone know what Blunt's "Wise Men" is all about?

Perhaps the most bizzarre thing was the fact that Robert Miles' "Children" was at 28; did it get re-released recently or something? I mean, the track is like 12 years old! The video is quite fitting; I wonder if they made a new one this time round, or whether this is the original one?..

What wasn't so great was the HUGE amount of R'n'B/Hip-Hop tracks... Sean Paul's "Temperature" was particularly tempting to turn off - the English was so slurred and lazy, it was AWFUL!

BUT, on the other hand, I discovered I'm liking Pink's "Stupid Girls" more and more, re-discovered the existence of a new Ramazzotti track [duet with Anastasia - "I belong to you", which was at No8 - which I'm now pretty sure I've heard before; kinda glad it didn't come out 5 or 10 months ago though!], and discovered that the cool summery/dancy/fun track that they've been playing in clubs/etc over the past few weeks is Meck (feat. someone-or-other), "Thunder in My Heart Again"; the video was pretty weird/plotless, but it's a fun track nevertheless. Oh, and I also (re-)discovered I like KT Tunstall quite a bit.

Now, if ONLY I had more space on my hard disk!

The top three was pretty interesting as well, actually:

3. Simon Webbe - No Worries: A good track, in a chilled sort of way, but I find it hard to love it. The video doesn't really save it, either. Guess it's just TOO R'n'B for my taste, or something!

2. Pussycat Dolls - Beep: Figures. It's EVERYWHERE. Kinda a fun track, too, though I think I like some of their other stuff more. See comment above re. disk space...

1. Raffaela - Right Here Right Now: I believe this is the winning track from their version of Pop Idol/X-Factor/whatever it is. Not bad, but as most of these things are, far too over-rated, I think. Oh, and it has nothing whatever to do with the Fatboy Slim track, or whatever it was. The Kelly Clarkson debut single was pretty good (not that I knew it before jamesalastair showed me the video; I think it's called "A Moment Like This"?), and compared to that I'm not convinced this one's great; but I think they were consciously trying to imitate something similar...

So there you have it, my obligatory rantings for the day. Again, to do with music.

Which reminds me, there are still three unguessed lyrics here; I doubt anyone will get numbers one or three (jamesalastair, ironically enough, may be able to guess 3, but I doubt he reads this any more), but surely SOMEONE knows number two?!

Right, off to town, I think; need to get some shopping done, and try to sign up for the visit to the Telders Moot final, if there are still spaces. May then attempt to get started on some Trusts or something...

Till the next time!
