Sorry if I've been a bit of a Debbie Downer lately, friends. To lighten things up a little, have an icon meme!
1. Reply to this post with "strife!", and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
yamask chose the following...
I'm not sure if I ship Black*Star and Tsubaki romantically, but I absolutely adore them as a team. This icon captures part of what I love about their dynamic: Tsubaki can be uneasy about whatever situation they are (or are about to be) in and is especially worried about her partner's well-being. She knows he's great, but she also understands him better than anybody and knows that he's not always as tough as he makes himself out to be. However, Black*Star isn't too worried because not only is he The Biggest Man who is going to surpass God, he knows he's got an amazing partner to back him up and together they are an unstoppable force of ass-kicking awesomeness. No matter what they're facing, they just have so much faith in one another. I also really love the contrasting colors the maker chose to color the panels with and how she incorporated the colors into Black*Star and Tsubaki themselves.
This icon is just adorable. I love so many things about it: the contrasting colors(!) that manage to totally complement each other, how Dave is holding Jade, how Jade is wearing her princess-y Prospit dress, how happy both of them look. It may just be because of Jade's dress, but I think that the scene in this icon has a fairy tale feel to it, like the two are a prince and a princess enjoying a storybook romance. Of course, they are a knight and a witch... ;)
I love this scene to death. I remember watching the finale of Avatar the night it premiered on Nickelodeon and crying my eyes out as this scene played out. I love how the whole scene was devoid of dialogue, how you could tell what was going through Aang and Katara's heads just by watching them. I love how the last scene of the series was devoted to their relationship, considering that their stories really began when they met; their relationship truly is the DNA of the show. I love the colors that were used, how the scene is bathed in this beautiful sunset. And, of course, watching my OTP finally make out happily as they were always meant to is wonderful and glorious. I do think the progression of the relationship, as well as a few other key aspects of the series, could have been handled a little better in the final stretch of the last season, but this scene is perfect regardless. I recently rewatched this episode and fell in love all over again and decided that I needed an icon of this scene. And so, I went and got one.
I love this icon not just because Anemone is one of my favorite characters in Eureka Seven and she and Gulliver look totes adorable, but because I really admire it artistically. The coloring is vibrant and gorgeous, and I really like how the maker decided to crop the image so as to utilize the negative space.
I watched Firefly in its entirety this summer, and Inara became one of my favorite characters almost immediately. She is confident, intelligent, worldly, snarky, and a badass in her own right. This is possibly my favorite image of her. Inara's just beat her femme fatale con artist rival at her own game, revealing that she and the crew have been one step ahead of her the whole time while Miss Con Artist thought she was playing everyone for a sap. In reality, she was only able to play the ship's captain, Mal (who Inara has wonderful belligerent sexual tension with, btw), in a scene that immediately preceded this one, so seeing Inara swoop in to pwn the bad guy when her love interest couldn't was completely awesome. By the way, that gun she's holding? That's the priceless antique gun that Miss Con Artist conned Mal out of. Also, Miss Con Artist is currently in a dumpster because she though she'd dropped the gun into it. The scene concludes with Inara closing the dumpster lid on her. It is a total victory, and it is totally glorious. P.S. I love Inara's oufit, especially her veil. The woman knows how to pwn n00bs and look hella elegant while doing it.
