So my cataract surgery went well. They threatened a few times to put me under because I got a little twitchy, but I stopped twitching and they were able to finish under local anesthesia. Which didn't make me the least bit loopy, despite all the warnings. Drat! (My mom's theory: I'm already loopy!)
I still have a little discomfort, but it's getting better daily. It sort of feels like having left a contact lens in too long. Only this one I can't exactly take out.
And yes, I can *see* out of my right eye with no glasses or contacts. Which is ay-fuckin'-mazing since I have been wearing corrective lenses since I was in second grade. I still need a contact lens in my left eye, but my contact budget just got cut in half!
I've been threatening, since this was scheduled, to be a pirate for Halloween, and so I was. I don't need an eye patch full time (just a shield for sleeping), but I found it helps to cover the eye when it needs a rest, and it needs to be protected when I'm doing dirty work like cleaning the cat box. So of course I bought a black one. And a pirate hat. Photos here (public link for you Facebook-phobes):
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=30747391&l=0050ef004b&id=1124722326 I was hoping to greet trick-or-treaters in my pirate costume, but NiiceDuude didn't get any. So I got to show it off just to him and
chezjake, who made us dinner last night, and ND's landlord and another neighbor. That's OK.
I've been cleared to drive, have sex and go to the gym -- not all at once! I've accomplished two out of three. I was going to go to the gym today but decided to take advantage of my last opportunity to put my feet up and not do anything strenuous before going back to work. Which means I've gained back a couple of pounds, but I can live with that.
Did I mention ... Arrr!
