Went to see Tristan & Isolde (which can take its stupid + and shove it where the sun doth not shine, and I don't mean that amusingly named place in Slice, thank you). It is a very bad sign for your love story when I like the screaming and the stabbing more than the lovers, uh, lovering. And, BOY DID I LIKE THE SCREAMING AND THE STABBING. :D :D :D No, really, I did. I wanted to scream and stab Isolde, myself. It's probably a sign of your incurable geekitude that you get irritated when the film is set in "The Dark Ages", and the actors are speaking Modern English which because of the reasonable suspension of disbelief you know to be Old English, and then they switch into early Modern English for the old bits with the floofy thees and thous even though early Modern English will not exist for, oh, another thousand years! *flail and outrage* I also liked how you die in like ten minutes from a stomach wound but you can get stabbed REPEATEDLY in the chest and go on fighting for another hour or eight. SIGH. (What? Me? Detail-whore? Perish the thought.)
But the screaming and stabbing really was quite fun. :D
ETA: Ohyeahbestpart. The theatre here has two ... you know, room-things. Auditoriums. Theatres. Whatever. But they're showing three films right now, one of which is Fun with Dick and Jane (it's been here for THREE WEEKS, and causes me pain). So they've got to shove two names together on the wee little marquee outside the auditorium, and we wind up with the cinematic masterpiece DICK AND TRISTAN. Oh, yeah. Brokeback Mountain, eat your heart out.
So it looks like I might just possibly get into SOU. This is unnerving. At least I will have someplace to go when Evergreen takes one look at my application and goes "WTF MATE?" and throws it back in my face, laughing hysterically. (I am so good at being positive. :P )
