Gackt - Ai Senshi lyrics 2. Do you remember the first time you heard this song?
Oh yeah. I picked Ai Senshi for this because it was the song that originally won me over and made me start listening to Gackt.
3. Do you have any special memories associated with this song?
See above. Plus, now that I've become more of a Chacha fan than a Gackt fan, every time I watch this performance (see #7) I can only wonder how Gackt managed to talk Chacha into performing on a roof top.
4. Do you see anything in your head when you hear this song? Colors? Images? A story?
Not really when I just listen to it... possibly the performance I linked to below. Reading the lyrics gives a dark and blood stained image of war (quite naturally...)
5. What is your favorite section of the lyrics?
Lyrics? Uuuh... got no fave here... So I'm going with the part of the entire song that's my favorite, as in the chorus and the end:
The men who are dying, to the women they should protect
The women who are dying, to the men they love
The men who fight, to the women of their homeland
The women who fight, to the men they love
What do they risk, what do they leave behind?
I pray, pray to bring near the New Day
I'm NOT a fan of Gackt's view on men and women that this song suggests, but I never checked the lyrics in English before today so I had no idea it was really about this. Again I'm left dumbfounded at how Gackt can compose a happy or at least positive-energy-filled song around such serious and heavy subjected lyrics.
6. Tell everyone why they should listen to this song right now.
I don't think Ai Senshi is given as much love as it deserves. The music is great and pleases especially people like me who like rhythms as well as that the song doesn't sound the same all throughout but instead varies quite a lot within itself. The lyrics might be heavy, but if you ignore their meaning for a while you'll notice that the way Gackt sings them makes them quite catchy.

Tagging everyone who just read this! At the very least those who are into J-rock.
