It was irrational, completely irrational the way he was reacting. And that's what he told himself as he sat in the middle of his room, thin arms wrapped around his knees protectively, rocking back and forth, merely mumbling.
"If that looking glass gets broke...M-Mama's gonna buy you a billy goat..."
Verse after verse of the timeless lullaby slipped him as he tried his best to block out that. That eerie, haunting melody of his past weaknesses and most of all dependence. It was pathetic, the state he was in, covering his ears as he said the next few lines a little louder and more demanding.
All he needed to do was block it out - forget about it like he had before.
That couldn't be so hard...right?
