I saw Sin City on Saturday. It owns. I left the theatre feeling really good. Not that it is in any way a feel-good movie, but it is so well-written and directed and casted and everything else that you just come away feeling really good. Like Mononoke Hime, Contact and Big Fish. It isn't a wonderful tale of a late-fuedal Japan in which spirits are very real with an intertwined statement about hate or a movie which explores what might be out there while touching on how religion might react to that or a delightful little wandering that explores one man's imagination. Instead, it is a story which tells of a city. What at first appears to be just a movie about an old cop near retirement soon unfolds into an epic story which follows the exploits of the three main characters, Hartigan (Bruce Willis), Marv (Micky Rourke) and Dwight (Clive Owen). Elijah Wood appears as the cannibalistic Kevin and puts his big blue eyes and creepy expressions to good use yet again as he performs ninja-like maneuvers in utter silence. I won't reveal any more because I want everyone to see it for themselves.
I love Sitting, Waiting, Wishing by Jack Johnson. It's got a catchy tune, nice lyrics and an interesting music video. It's playing on Vh1 at the moment (not right now, but I mean as in if you watch Vh1 tonight (tomorrow morning) you'll see it.
Now I was sitting waiting wishing
That you believed in superstitions
Then maybe you'd see the signs
But Lord knows that this world is cruel
And I ain't the Lord, no I'm just a fool
And in loving somebody don't make them love you
Must I always be waiting waiting on you?
Must I always be playing playing the fool?
I sing ya songs I dance a dance
I gave ya friends all a chance
Putting up with them wasn't worth never having you
And maybe you been through this before
But its my first time
So please ignore
The next few lines cause they're directed at you
I cant always be waiting waiting on you
I cant always be playing playing your fool
I keep playing your cards
But its not my scene
Wont this plot not twist?
I have no place to read?
Keep building me up, then shooting me down
Well im already down
Just wait a minute
Just sitting waiting
Just wait a minute
Just sitting waiting
Well if I was in your position
Id put down all my ammunition
I'd wondered why'd it taken me so long
But Lord knows that I'm not you
And If I was I wouldn't be so cruel
Cause waiting on love ain't so easy to do
Must I always be waiting waiting on you?
Must I always be playing playing the fool?
No I cant always be waiting waiting on you
I cant always be playing playing your fool, foool
Also, I've borrowed Warcraft III from Iro. It rocketh. I've played Warcraft and Warcraft II and Starcraft, so I am well-aquainted with Blizzard's progression in strategy games. Unless I miss my guess, Starcraft II will be to Warcraft III as Starcraft was to Warcraft II (in other words, Starcraft II will totally kick ass.) I want to play as Zeratul and level up and pick up items and stuff. I also hope they have more campaigns. They could have Zerg, Terran, Protoss and Hybrids too (and that's assuming the Hybrid faction includes Duran, who could easily have his own faction apart from the hybrids and have five races total.) *giggles* I get so fangirly whenever I start pondering new games by Blizzard. Or old games by Square. I don't get why everyone's obsessed with the Playstation. God, the most old-school some of these kids have ever gotten is the FF VI remake. I've played the first fucking Final Fantasy game ever. I feel old ;_;. And FF VI owns any Final Fantasy after it or before it. And of course Chrono Trigger owns any Final Fantasy game at all. And Seiken Densetsu III comes pretty damn close. In the world of gaming, "Square" is a compliment (as "being Square" would indicate that you make really great games and basically defined the entire genre of machine-based RPGs from the first Nintendo.)
Woo-hoo! New layout!
