All right, I've ALMOST made up the 21 hours I lost in February due to the snow. I have to put in 2.5 more hours of overtime by the end of March. I was very worried about this because since I left the military, I do NOT enjoy getting up much before 7:30. For the past six weeks, that's the time I'm usually getting into work.
It's not as horrible as I remember it being . . . of course, when I was in the Army, it was standard to get up at 5:00 to be at Physical Training by 6:30. Except for that one summer when I was first dating
wishweaver. Because the school I was attending was run by the Air Force, we HAD to start class at 0600. Well, doing P.T. after class was right out. West Texas in June, July, and August does not lend itself to strenuous physical exertion at 4 in the afternoon. (Unless you're a big fan of heat stroke that is.)
So, to meet Army physical training requirements and Air Force classroom requirements, we did our P.T. (all four of us) at 0400. Yep, you heard that right. Oh-frickin'-dark-o'clock.
Well, as i may have mentioned, I had just started dating
wishweaver. So, in my infinite wisdom and a much younger constitution, I was taking her out and usually returning to the Goodfellow Inn around 0100 and then getting up at 0340 and hurrying downstairs for the daily dozen. Oh, and then going to class from 0600 until 1500. Then catch a quick nap from 1530 until 1800 and then drive into town to visit Wish.
Luckily this course was only five months long. *grin*
And speaking of long days, I "only" put in 9.25 hours today and then put in a couple hours of writing afterward. I added 1037 words to Steel on Target's Chapter 17. Getting ready to pull the rug out from under my main character again. For some reason, he should really start getting suspicious of downtime. It seems like every time I give him time to breath, something horrible happens.
Yes, I am a mean author.
Between work and writing, Wish and I did go out to pick up something for the daughter-unit's B-day this weekend. We had to special order it (natch), but while we were out, I picked up two new DVDs. I snagged a copy of Kelly's Heroes, (an entirely too funny and surreal war movie), and a copy of The African Queen which has been released for the first time on DVD. It'll go into the rest of the Bogie collection.
But, since I am no longer as young as I was, I think getting more than three hours sleep tonight would be good. *grin*
