Damned if I do, damned if I don't...

Sometimes, I regret ever having the idea to create the Cell. Sometimes, it's more trouble than it's worth and at times it's been way more of an emotional drain than it really needs to be, although perhaps that's only because, at those times, I allowed it to be an emotional drain. But you know, I've found that it does get easier to handle over time ( Read more... )

Firstly, chief, let me say you do a fantastic job and that the Cell is still one of my favorite TF boards on the net. The boards on Seibertron.com, on which I used to lurk and occassionally post at, were a nightmare of fanboy complaining. Depending on the mood of the day, the 2005 board are either the same nightmare, or a slighter saner place where it's fairly easy to get your TF news.

The Cell's just a nice, safe place to talk TFs, see all manner of cool art, read good fic, and get critiques on my own fic. I've always liked it, though there have been times where I too, think certain, shall we say, aspects of the fandom seem to have appeared in record numbers. But I also recognize that I have the all-powerful ability not to click.

On the other hand, I've also been on the recieving end of what might be called that closed-minded group mentallity, usually when it comes to female TFs. The Cell's mostly female, I'm male, and I like easily identifable female TFs. This has occassionally gotten me a bit of a stink eye, but, knowing, as I do, the way in which some of my debaters just are as well as their own unique views, I'm able to shrug 90% of it off. Occassionally felt like I was up against a wall, but I'm easy-going enough (or stupidly stubborn... they're similar ;-) ) to keep plugging on.

That said, while I do appreciate the efforts to keep the Cell family-friendly, it's also pretty clear that the majority of us are somewhere in the eighteen and up region. And, as I said, there's that all important ability not to click. I'm not saying to allow outright porn... but that acting in the interest to protect what's likely a small number of underage (and what does that really mean? One can be more mature than their years, after all) isn't necessarily needed.

....Boy, I hope this all makes sense. I tend to get less sane when I get going like this.
