Ahhhh, it's been so nice and quiet in the office today. Just me. Love it when that happens. :) So, while I eat, I ramble. :)
1) So, today is Passover. Well, actually it started yesterday evening and will end this evening. I'm leaving work early today to go to a seder organized members of That Church I Don't Like. I have to admit that I have my misgivings about going. The family hosting it are old friends of
frostymook's...but still. Still, this church and their practices totally weird me out and, not knowing these people myself, I'm having difficulty separating them from That Church. I'm expecting to be sitting there gritting my teeth the whole time, but hopefully I'm wrong. But between that and the idea of spending the evening with Frosty's ex (who's being a jerk at the moment)...Well, it's not my idea of bliss. Still, I'll go so that Frosty won't be all by herself. Maybe I'll at least get some decent matzoh ball soup out of the deal... ;) And I suppose it'll be...er, interesting to see what they do with the seder, given what they do with, ohhhhhh, Yom Kippur. :) Which...No, never mind. Not gonna rant today about their desecration of that holiday. :p Positive attitude, Nightwind, positive attitude!
2) Saw the horrific aftermath of
this car accident on the way down to orchestra rehearsal last night. The helicopter airlifting out one of the drivers was just taking off as we joined the end of the traffic back-up. The family of the woman who died, even though I have no idea who they are, is in my prayers today. My father died in a car accident (and was killed instantly, as this woman apparently was), so I know what they're going through. And that just was not a pretty sight to see yesterday *shudder*. Certainly didn't put me in the mood to play music, that's for sure. Just horrible... I just can't imagine the impact, given that the woman went through the windshield of her car even though she was wearing her seatbelt. *shudder* Horrible, horrible... Brings back bad memories...
3) I want to send a thank you out to
drharper for the recommendation of Real Christians Don't Dance. I actually found an
online source that had it published online in its entirety for free, and I'm going to finish up reading it today, once I finish this post. I found myself saying, "Right on, brother," many, many times as I read it. Lord, I wish I could print out twenty copies and distribute them at this seder tonight, but that would be horribly impolite of me, wouldn't it?
4) Gorgeous day today. 74 and sunny. Guess it really is spring. This week, anyway. :)
