As the parody song goes, "I fought the lawn, and the lawn won." :) Well, OK, so it wasn't that bad. Just spit a lot of stones at myself while trimming the weeds in the (gravel) driveway and in the drainage ditch and alongside the road. So I've got impact welts all over my legs. Yes, I know I should wear jeans or something, but *whine* it's too hot. So, shorts it is. Just have to deal with the rocks, is all.
Anyway, once the trimming was done, I got to move on to "fun" stuff. Namely, the Great Beethoven Arranging Project. And...I finished it. At least, I think I finished it. It might still need some poking here and there where I've got chords messed up and such. Like, there's one toward the end that needs fixing. But other than that, I have successfully reduced/arranged the second movement of Beethoven's 7th symphony for string quartet! :D (Who needs winds, brass, and tympani, dangit, when you've got two violins, a viola, and a cello. ;) ) Now that it's done, I don't know what the heck to do with it, other than probably toss it up at the Finale Showcase, but...it's done! :D Complete with bowings and just a minimal amount of double-stopping, even.
For those one or two folks who might be interested, a MIDI of he arrangement can be found
here.
Unfortunately, MIDIs don't do crescendos and diminuendos, so you end up with Baroque-esqe stepped dynamics which just aren't very appealing in a Beethoven piece. And MIDI playback doesn't distinguish between slurred and detached notes, and they don't emulate plucked strings unless you set them on their own stave which I just don't want to do, but...eh. 'Tis good enough for now. :) I'd put up sheet music, but Finale apparently doesn't save in either PDF or JPG. Bummer. :P So I guess I'll have to do the print/scan/post thing if anyone happens to be interested in the score/parts.
So, now that that's out of the way...I have no idea what to do with the rest of my weekend. Other than I do need to practice, since I didn't do any practicing Friday or Saturday. Bad cellist! *smacks hand* So maybe I'll go do that now...and then maybe I'll see if I can get Skyfire to cooperate with me. *sigh*
