The fandom questions meme again. Star Trek: TOS this time!
ameban wanted me to do this question meme list for Star Trek, so I have. I'm not really in this fandom anymore, although I was heavily into it from the 70s through the late 80s or so when the TNG vs. TOS infighting got stupid in the geek circles I ran in at the time and made me a disillusioned little fan. Plus, Transformers ate my brain. I watched and liked and in a few cases loved the new shows, but I didn't consider myself "in the fandom" anymore, if you know what I mean.
For this list, though, I have limited myself to the original series. For the sake of brevity, really, because I could go on and on if I added, say, DS9 and Voyager to the mix. I mean, if I added VOY, I'd have to decide which pair I hate more: Kirk/Spock or Chakotay/Seven. That would have been a VERY hard choice to make...
*ahem* So:
01. The first character I fell in love with: Spock! When I was three, watching the original series as it aired, I announced that I was going to marry Spock. Not Leonard Nimoy. Spock.
02. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Chekov, actually. He was just kind of there when I was younger. I "discovered" him when I started writing fic when I was in my early teens.
03. The character everyone else loves that I don't: James Tiberius Kirk. Bleaaaaagh! (Ironically, I really liked the "new" Kirk in the 2009 movie. BWAHAHAHAH!)
04. The character I love that everyone else hates: I don't think anyone really hates any of the main TOS characters, do they? Except me with my Kirk hatred, of course. But when I was in the fandom, I gave Uhura a lot more attention than anyone else seemed to.
05. The character I used to love but don't any longer: None. My preferences have not changed much since I was...uh...three. :)
06. The character I would shag anytime: Sulu. In a New York minute. Oh, yeah, baby.
07. The character I want to be like: I AM like McCoy. :) Who I want to be like...At one time I would have said Spock, but not really anymore. So, I'm gonna go with Sulu. He's...sunny and optimistic and enthusiastic about stuff. I like that.
08. The character I'd slap: Kirk, of course. *grumble*
09. A pairing that I love: When I was in the fandom, the slash contingent seemed to be obsessed with Kirk/Spock. Not me, no. I was all Sulu/Chekov. With a little Spock/Uhura on the side for some not-slash variety. (Given the 2009 movie...I am apparently a prophet! Either that or SOMEONE has been reading the fics I wrote when I was, like, 16. :p HAHAHAHAH!)
10. A pairing that I hate: Kirk/Spock. BLEEEEEEAAAAAAAAGH! Really, Kirk/anyone. No one is horrible enough to deserve Kirk. *laughs*
11. Favorite character: Really, I love all the regulars except Kirk, but my very favorite...is a very close three-way tie between Spock, Chekov, and McCoy.
12. My five three favorite characters: The three above, plus Uhura and Harry Mudd. (For those Transformers fans who might see this: The actor who played Harry Mudd also did TF voices. Cyclonus, namely. BWAHAHAHAHAH!)
13. My five least favorite characters: Kirk, Kirk, Kirk, Kirk...and Saavik.
14. Which character I am most like: McCoy. With a bit of Scotty's geekiness.
15. My deep, dark fandom secret: Anonymously, I wrote a series of very X-rated Sulu/Uhura/Chekov three-ways that were published in one particular fanzine. It was the only explicit stuff I ever wrote, really, and I could only do it, I think, because it was anonymous. The only person who knew who wrote them was the person who published them (With much glee!) in said fanzine. They became quite popular in the fan/convention circles I ran in at the time. The twist: I was like 14 or 15 when I wrote them. I am a naughty, naughty girl... And I've actually never 'fessed up to this secret before. So....there you go.
