personality:
At first glance, one sees Kara as a run-of-the-mill air-headed blonde, fully expecting the cheery attitude and melodramatic hand gestures/eye rolls/squealing, and shenanigans. And while it’s wrong to say that she doesn’t have the tendency to act the part, it’s more accurate that Kara also has an unpredictable streak. She can be sullen, sarcastic and cynical one moment and gentle, incredibly compassionate the next. And while her sense of justice is very well-meaning, there's also the fact that she’s the type to let emotions get in the way more often than not-crazy determination, fear and rage being her worst enemies. When she gets mad, it’s nearly impossible to talk sense into her, and very often, the only way for her to get past it is to let the blind anger run its course. Her decision-making skills, when clouded by bad judgment, suck and oftentimes, she almost doesn’t care. The repercussions in turn are disastrous, too late by the time of remorse for her to go back. That tendency to mess up causes most people to not take her seriously, or to even separate themselves from her, and she knows this-but Kara is able to let her cleverness shine through when push comes to shove. There's many moments, especially so in her crossover appearances with other comic titles, that she lets side of her show everyone just who Supergirl really is, able to be quite serious and down-to-business when the situation calls for it. At the same time, like most teenagers, she dwells too much on her insecurities. Dealing with something of an identity crisis since landing on Earth, and being unable to find a place in the world to settle into properly, Kara is somewhat of a lost creature, with a penchant for attracting bad situations. And even in moments when she truly means well, when things go wrong, she is very quick to blame herself and withdraw. It’s very difficult for her to let guilt just go, but at the very least, she’s beginning to at least learn how to move on and grow from those experiences. Her character moves forward and does not go back, does not find the easy way out of mistakes and instead uses them, pushes past them.

Supergirl is like that fire that can't be contained. She clings to her independence like there’s nothing else left in the world-in her case, there truly isn't. This is due to a couple of reasons: On one hand, she doesn’t want to burden any more people, like her family or friends-and on the other, Kara simply wants to get through things without anyone having to hold her hand. Unfortunately, this usually causes her to alienate the people closest to her and push them away, without realizing that even in independence, people will always rely on each other. That it’s okay to let another hold out a hand or worry over you. She's very much still in a phase where she doesn't understand a lot of concepts about life. And her actions because of it tend to be very contradictory.

All that aside... On a normal day (if they happen at all), Supergirl's got a lot of wit, a vibrant and wild spirit in her. It’s something that falters thanks to the teen awkwardness she still hasn't quite outgrown, but she can definitely be a tease, and get silly, and certainly won’t hold back to speak her mind. However, despite being friendly, it's probably safe to say that she tends to be much less outgoing-having a few close friends and mentors, but keeping a lot of the more personal things to herself. Even her cousins have a hard time getting her past the somewhat reclusive way she behaves, though they’re probably the people closest to her. Sometimes, she’ll take refuge in friends that are very separate from her immediate problems, such as Boomer in the early issues. And when it comes to boys... well. She’s not the type to be flirtatious often, but always comes on strong when attracted to someone; this doesn’t always go well, here’s lookin’ at you Power Boy, but that’s probably one of the biggest things about her development in that sense: her heart tends to be very unsure, and reacts on instinct rather than thinking things through. Kara is very prone to stupid crushes. And even if she doesn’t really intend to get involved with someone, she won’t think twice about stealing a kiss (“for luck”) or trying to get close.

... Actually, it’s safe to safe to say she probably just comes on “strong” in general.

abilities: Way. Too. Many.

any plans for your character here? I think there's a lot of characters she could have some really interesting CR with here so! Both from the comics’ canons and other mediums, I'd love to have her develop a bit at a point in canon that's not quite with the current issues (i.e., before shit seriously hits the fan.)

possessions: She'll show up wearing her superhero costume. Seeing as I don’t see any room for pockets on that, I assume that's about it.

sample journal entry:
[Voice clicks on, and there’s a hesitant pause before she speaks:]

Iiiii’m really hoping this isn’t going to be one of those things where I’m speaking into this thing too loud and start having to re-record the whole thing over and over. So. Testing?

All the typical bases are covered: No given reason why we're here, nearly impossible way to get back... Just making it through the journey'll end up being half the battle. Right?

All things considered, I guess it doesn’t seem so bad. Been off and away from home so long and so many times that I almost can't see it getting any worse. I say "almost" only because the irony always comes back and--well, you know. Rao, I really suck at these things.

... Anyway, hey out there.

I guess you'd call me Supergirl.
