There’s one perfect possible future. That had been her struggle, her goal. But for all her foresight and ability to calculate the various futures, pasts, dimensions, and outcomes, there is one thing she is unable to comprehend. That pinprick of a detail is that in all of those chances, that perfect place exists. It isn’t ahead of them. It isn’t to be achieved. It simply exists. Because she can’t see this, comprehend it; she doesn’t dare to dream about it. Her heart can’t withstand the implications.

But if she did dare, if she had the courage, she would be shocked by what would be revealed to her. It wasn’t ideal for just the universe to earn its title. It was bliss for everyone; that included herself. As her natural form encouraged growth and life itself it was hard for her to figure her own being into an equation, let alone accept that taking the form of an avatar would alter things significantly. Perhaps that in itself was the one element that kept her from this world. For she was no small part of it.

In this realm they could not reach there was a peace beyond nations of every galactic region. The Magog had reached a point of evolution that overran their instincts. The Nietzcheans had found balance within their clans, the strongest and largest being led by Tyr himself. And while warriors were prized and battles did occur from time to time it was only as they would be in any natural world. Things had to balance regardless of the joy of others. Earth wasn’t a forgotten and dusty planet. It had, with the help of several genius lines, cleansed itself and was the forerunner of preservation technology.

Things were not only well for the world, but also for those who had become dear to her. Her dear Harper had branched off from the family business. His parents had been at the head of the latest innovations with their planetary success. He had become one of the highest sought engineers and developers of artificial intelligence throughout the known worlds. It was the high guard that had recruited him in the first place, and brought him into her life in that world.

Rommie was his crowning achievement. OF which, Trance was no small part. For the Tarn Vedra system knew exactly who she was. There she was worshiped and respected. She found the ceremonies and formalities quite ridiculous and overwhelming but the gesture was kind. She could hardly fault them for their generosity. But it was a lengthy talk with her, understanding the functionality and extent to which her avatar had become an actual person that he was able to find a new understanding in life. AS a result, ships avatars had their own amount of self preservation, understanding, and could even live out their lives as any other officer of the political army that kept this heaven in place.

Beka, as always, was her normal self. Even in this paradise she could find her own way to cause trouble. Yet none of it came to harm. She was even known as an unofficial trader and negotiator for the high guard. There were still some things that needed to be done in secret in order to maintain relations of course.

Rev Bem was a direct descended of the first evolved of his species. It was a fact that made him entirely proud, and made him strive for personal enlightenment with a fervor and purity his counter self would never know. HE was a prized mentor in the eyes of many.

But then there was Dylan. Oh if she could have seen him here. His first mate was a friend for life -Rhade in the flesh. Rhade was no doubt unconventional. It was perhaps the reason they maintained their bond even after the rather confusing matter of Dylan’s long-time girlfriend Sarah falling in love with the rough Neitzchean. It had been the sole heartbreak in his life.

But he had found consolation in his work and in his friendships. No sooner had his attention been focused then did he find his way up the ranks. Soon, his position was coveted and cherished. He had even been appointed by the embassy to guard their sun’s avatar. In her he found a new light, and in him she found an anchor in the chaotic and ever changing world of man.

Yes, everything was as it could never be. And yet in the back of her mind, Trance knew it was there. It was the very itch that fueled her perseverance in the world she chose to exist in now. Maybe, one day, her path would cross into that world. Maybe then she could find her peace. Until then, her double would have to experience joy great enough for both of them.
