A quiet night, with Boq sitting close to Nessa's chair, the two of them studying in companionable silence. There was no talk of Galinda, or Elphaba's latest misdemeanor.
Boq was smarter than most gave him credit for, unafraid to ask questions. He was funny and sweet, and didn't look for trouble.
She hated when these quiet nights ended, when Boq would stretch out and yawn, snapping his book closed.
Tonight, in particular, was a dreary night. The windows rattled from wind and rain, and Nessa wanted nothing more than to tuck under the blankets with a good book.
Boq stood, slowly, and wheeled Nessa to her bed. There was no need for him to, Nessa was perfectly capable, but it was nice to have Boq look after him.
Boq was always gentle, and despite his shorter stature, was able to pull back the covers, and help her into bed. He tucked the covers securely around her, making sure she was set.
Tonight was different. Instead of rushing off with his usual cheerful, hasty goodbye, Boq sat next to her and read until she began to drift off.
Before sleep claimed her, she felt fingers carding through her hair, light and soothing.
You... You... ;.; YOU WROTE ME BOQ/NESSA FIC! I... I'm quite speechless...and giddy. And so sweet. XD Thank you so so SO much! *tacklehugglecling* It's simply grand! 'specially since I"m headed to bed soon! You have no idea how much this makes me smile.
It was one of those nights.
