Sorry for the late! n1njagirlfriend September 6 2009, 00:50:37 UTC
It was a hell of a crash, is what it was. Kasumi had lost herself in the match, focusing only on her opponent. It hadn't even occurred to her that she had literally ripped her top off in front of so many people until after Chrodechild had ended the match. She simply thanked her lucky stars that no one she knew had scene. Or at least she hoped. Still, the embarassment hadn't quite worn away yet.

"I live in a room above Lord Lepant's trade shop. The stairs leading up to it are behind it," she said, though she rarely found herself actually in the room but to sleep. She spent most of her time simply surveying the castle.

"Oh, good. I'm glad Miss Eileen had been able to put it to some use. I had encountered her the day she found it." Chrodechild chose not to mention she'd found Eileen falling arse over teakettle trying to get up the ladder that had led to it, but she did add, "I'm glad they cleared a better path upstairs. They're lovely people, Miss Eileen and Mister Lepant."

"She has been more than a gracious host to me. At times I feel like I do not do enough to repay their kindness," Kasumi remarked, warming slightly with the conversation. "They are in the awkward position of not being acquainted with myself while the opposite is true, it would seem."

Chrodechild nodded, not exactly sure what Kasumi was getting at, but trying to intuit the situation as best she could. "Perhaps you could invite them upstairs for tea? Repaying hospitality with hospitality seems appropriate, and put you on a little more equal footing, in terms of getting acquainted."

"Ah, well I'm not certain they'd appreciate a traditional Rokkaku tea ceremony. But I suppose that is something to consider," she said, mostly to herself. She seemed to be easing up as they came closer to the place she had taken to calling her temporary home.

"Ah, your people have tea ceremonies? They did so in a few countries I spent some time in. Though of course they might be quite different." She paused with a pensive frown, thinking of the Janaam that was no more. "Anyway, I suppose I was thinking of something less formal. I don't know..."

She smiled a little, to see Kasumi relaxing, and hesitated to bring up what she had to say next for fear of bringing up the source of discomfort again, but they were nearly to the stairs. "It's fortuitous you live right above the shop, anyway. I understand Miss Eileen does mending work. Perhaps if you'd like to go upstairs to change, then we can leave the tunic for her to fix. I will insist upon paying."

"There's no need to pay. I will simply make it up to them doing more odd jobs. I would not want to trouble you any further than you already have. Besides, I wounded you," Kasumi spoke pensively as she made her way to the first step. She had a slight flush on her cheeks as she looked over to the other.

"I will be down in a moment, changed. Would you like to join me for tea at Miss Mamie's cafe?" she asked, giving a friendly smile to Chrodechild.

At the mention of the wound (not that she considered it very much of one), Chrodechild realized she was still holding the offending shuriken in her hand (not to mention the others embedded in the armor along her left arm, which she quickly plucked out). "Ah," she said softly. "Perhaps you'd want these back."

She discarded the issue of payment for the mending at the moment. She didn't know Kasumi very well, but it was easy enough to tell from her gestures and manner of addressing people that she seemed a woman to whom honor and etiquette was important, and particularly under the circumstances wasn't going to push what might be an issue of pride. That didn't mean she wasn't thinking about confront Eileen privately later about negotiating payment, but that was not an issue for now.

She nodded with one of her little smiles, always just a slight upturn of the lips, but her eyes were warm, clearly welcoming the invitation. "Tea sounds lovely."

Kasumi took the weapons, giving Chrodechild a gracious bow before wordlessly making her way up the steps. While upstairs, she began to rearrange her weapons (because she would not be out unarmed) while looking about for something else to wear in the meantime. Thankfully she still had some of the nice clothes that Lady Eileen had helped pick out for her, still unworn.

She felt a bit silly, really. She enjoyed things like this as much as the next gal, but her time here at Budehuc had been speant adjusting for so long... Ah well. Now was as good a time as any to have at least a little femininity. She dawned the simple white sun dress, some sandals, and made sure the hidden pockets she had sewn in were checked for fraying. Putting her pink neck scarf back on, she began to head back out...

Chrodechild waited, sitting on the steps. She took off her bracer and had checked her wrist, only slightly pierced, but she marveled at the throw that had gone through the armor. She decided to leave the bracer off and took her gloves off as well, tucking them into her belt. Not quite as much a change that Kasumi had gone through by far.

"That suits you," Chrodechild said. She silently envied the fact that Kasumi had a change of clothes, let alone such a different one. She meant the compliment; it was a freeing look that suited Kasumi's figure. Still, part of her wondered if Kasumi somehow still had something hidden on her somewhere. She'd never seen so many weapons aimed at her before from one opponent. Surely, though, not in that dress...?

Since Kasumi was dressed a bit more ladylike, Chrodechild decided to stand and offer Kasumi her arm. "Shall we?"

Of course in that dress. She was a ninja, after all, and even when not dressed for combat, she must always be ready. They hammered that fact into her head quite thoroughly at Sparrow Manor. But hopefully she would not have to reveal that fact when they were just going out for tea. And possibly cake.

Her cheeks tinted just slightly from both her words and her gesture. Even after all the growing up she'd done since the days of the Gate Rune Wars, she still never could quite get used to compliments like that. Still, she smiled, taking her arm with a slight chuckle.

"We shall."

LOL. Definitely cake. nightsveilqueen September 9 2009, 02:24:53 UTC
Chrodechild walked as a stately escort should, though it was obviously not a very long walk to the cafe. She led Kasumi toward a corner table overlooking the lake, and they found their seats.

She spoke as they waited for a waiter to attend to them. "Miss Kasumi, may I ask, how long have you been here at Budehuc?"

Kasumi took a moment to admire the waterfront before speaking. The sun really made it sparkle...

"I believe it was March on the calender here when I arrived, so... six months or so," she remarked, letting out a quiet sigh. It was a bit daunting when she thought about it like that. The only thing that had ever pulled her away from her home for so long was war...

"Were you one of the ones brought here by magic?" Her face fell a little. "I must say the thought of being away from home for six months makes me... anxious. But I must figure what I must do with myself if I cannot find a way home."

She fiddled with the little menu with the day's specials on it.

"I was pulled through time to be here... I could easily make my way to Rokkaku, but to do so almost 20 years after the last moment I saw it, well...," she let out a slight sigh. "You're right. What matters is that, until a solution can be found, we must find a means of keeping ourselves from growing stagnant."

She tapped her menu lightly, pointing out the cakes. "Would you like to share a slice of one of these, Lady Chrodechild?"

"One might hope there is another you there, 20 years wiser," Chrodechild mused. "I do not know what I would do if I arrived to Astrasia in another time. It must be perplexing." She nodded. "I like to think there is some purpose to the gathering of souls here. Even if it is a sinister purpose, I can hope I will be of use turning it into something good, if it is not already."

Chrodechild looked at the spot Kasumi pointed to. "Certainly. I think I'll get some tea sandwiches too. And a pot of tea... do you prefer black or green?"
