Okay Franz Ferdinand is incredibly awesome. Arguably better than The Strokes but different and kindof the same but British...anyway... Today I did a bunch of shit like write about Galileo for Physics and read Kurt Vonnegut for my daily dose of awesomeness

Kurt Vonnegut is a fucking genius. His book, Slaughter-House Five, is brilliant. This actually works out as a very nice segue...
I'm in a band currently called Melodious Owl (taken straight from the pages of Slaughter-House Five). We consider ourselves like the Rapture but a bit weirder/more intense. We've gone through about 3 phases. When we started, it was just extreme noise experimentalism. Buzzers, fuzz bass, analogue recordings all the way. Then we graduated to a sort of Electric Six-esque disco noise punk. Currently we're in our offbeat/more intense dance phase. I sing and occasionally play synths in the band, but I've played guitar for a few years now, play drums, bass, and even...the melodica. I was in a band prior to Melodious Owl called The Poor Jews and we had a bit of a situation like the one you described. Everyone was going in different directions. I really wanted a Hives kind of sound, the guitarist loved String Cheese Incident, the bass player had a Dave Matthews fetish, and the drummer idolized Blink-182. We played the Entry but no further.
Did you get Franz tickets? This reminds me...The Thrills are coming to town as well...do you like them/have you heard them?
One last question...where did you hear that Jet broke up? I saw it printed in the incredibly credible (cough) Entertainment Weekly...but, upon reading the article, realized it was a joke.
Listen to "This Fire" on the Franz album (if you have it.) Its my current favorite...so is "Jaqueline", "Tell Her Tonight", "Take Me Out", "The Dark of the Matinee", ... fuck the whole album is my favorite.
