Yeah, so the good news? The MS leak is for realz.
The bad news? SMeyer is so pissed about it she's putting the book on hold indefinately.

You know what my very first reaction was when I saw it had been leaked? "Gee, I hope she doesn't get all mad that it leaked and decide not to finish it or something."
Then a second later I thought "Nah, that would be lame and silly."
Golly gee, do I feel foolish now.
On the one hand, I can get that she's mad. I'd be upset if I worked really hard on a story and it was released early without my consent. There's lots of time when I write stuff and I'll just put down the first thing that pops into my head to keep the flow going, with the intention of coming back later and fixing it. I'm sure she looks over what she has written and finds it embarrassingly bad, even if we like it. And I completely understand having to be in the right mood to write; I'm actually putting one of my own stories on hold because I can't get up the energy to work on it.
BUT
The fact is, she's been straight up promising us this book for a hell of a long time, and to suddenly withhold that because some of it was leaked? Very poorly played, IMO. Ever since the first chapter was posted she's said that either she would post the whole thing on her website or she would have it published. Obviously she wasn't planning on having it leaked (although really, they haven't figured out how to keep a story from leaking yet? Really?) but she should never have made that promise if she wasn't committed to carrying it out. Especially since the leaked chapters have been met with an overwhelmingly positive response. I was really worried that it would suck after reading BD, but the leaked chapters made me fall even more in love with the series. And now she doesn't want to finish it, because people saw her typos? Whatever.
I really, really want to believe that she's just upset and will finish the book once the furor dies down, but there's two things that give me a bad feeling that's not going to happen. 1.) She's actually posted all 12 chapters on her website, which strikes me as a bit strange if she's still planning on finishing it. A partial playlist, too. 2.) She's been saying for quite some time that she wants to get out of the Cullen universe and try writing some different stories, so I'm worried this is just a convenient out.
