Character

Name: Kyrie
Fandom: 40 Days and 40 Nights of Rain (visual novel by the company ZigZag)
Gender: Female

Time Period: At the end of the game, but the end of the world hasn't happened quite yet.
Wing Color: Black (her original wings were white, but in luceti they are black)
History: [Unfortunately, there isn't a Wiki or real link to it other than the place where you could originally download it from, but it got pulled to fix an error, so I'll explain the whole history in as much detail as possible, if that's alright]

"For 40 days and 40 nights, the rain will fall."

In a world where a war has left the world in ruins, it never stops raining. Ever. In this world, a soldier named Yuu, nicknamed the "tinman" soldier, (due to a plate in his body that he had put in due to a gunshot wound) lives in a cold, grey, insignificant little town that has managed to keep to itself from the cares of the world. He lives each day passing through life and with nothing to look forward to each day, seeing that his wife and child had died in the midst of war.

That is, until one day, he meets the girl with sky-blue eyes.

Yuu meets a young girl who had been staring up at the sky and at the rain, tripping all over herself. He ends up taking her in to care for her at the inn he lives at, when she tells him that she has no home or any parents. The two of them live together with all the other residents of the inn, and the girl, Kyrie, slowly begins to grow attached to him and learn new things as Yuu also grows attached to her like a daughter. She tries to learn how to walk better, learns how to cook so that she could feel of some use, feeds the birds and becomes friends with people at the park...the town becomes like her family and she becomes more and more happier. However, every night, Yuu begins to notice, she spends every night praying for the souls of everyone, always crying and apologizing for something, but he doesn't know what.

Life goes peacefully for the two, until one day their town is attacked by soldiers. Yuu tries to run away, having lost Kyrie somewhere in the panic and chaos being created. Kyrie is wandering aimlessly, hiding from soldiers and desperately trying to find Yuu, afraid that he would be killed and that she would be left all alone in the world. She manages to find him as the two try to run away, but are then ambushed by a pair of soldiers. Yuu moves and is injured from the bayonet, but not before Kyrie manages to fly him to safety. Yes, fly. For when Yuu opens his eyes as he is about to be shot, Kyrie is before him, white wings emerging from her back as she uses herself like a shield to protect him from the barrage of bullets and attacks.

Kyrie reveals to Yuu that she is an angel that was sent by God to observe humans. The reason that it has been raining nonstop for what feels like forever is because God is planning to send a Second Flood to wipe out humanity and start over. Her job is to attempt to save the few humans that have been chosen by God to be spared from the flood. Unfortunately, it is implied that Yuu is not one of them, having been in the previous war and have killed people before. Hence Kyrie's sorrow from one day having to watch Yuu and all of humanity dying and being unable to save everyone.

Yuu, however, promises to help her and stay by her side while she is forced to wait for the flood even though she can't bring him with her to heaven, and thus, the two of them set off to travel the world together until the day of the flood should arrive.

Personality:
Kyrie is a shy and quiet little girl, with the tiniest hint of a stutter out of nervousness. She can be sensitive and get easily upset, especially when she sees others in pain. She tends to cry a lot at times and try to hide it, or be very apologetic even when the issue at hand isn't her fault or worth apologizing about. However, once she gets to know someone, she can be very friendly and cheerful to everyone, as she'll play with them or spend time with them. She also has a very childlike curiosity about her, always asking questions when needed and willing to learn new things. She does not think badly of anyone, and believes that even the most hardened of criminals or bad people can be good people too if they try. Because of this, she can be seen as too hopeful or gullible in some cases, but she just doesn't want to believe that there could be truly evil people in the world, even though the purpose of the flood coming back home is to wipe out those same people.

She seems kind of neutral or sad most of the time, but is quite capable of being happy. No matter how hard something is, she never gives up and will keep going, even in walking where she is always constantly tripping over herself; she'll get back up and keep walking. Her attention span seems to be kind of short, as she often spends a lot of time spacing out and staring at the sky, but once she sets her mind to something, she'll concentrate as hard as possible so that she can get it right and that people will be proud of her. With the right encouragement, she can do anything.

Thanks to the people she's met and the friends she's made the last time she was in Luceti, Kyrie has become a little more cheerful, trying harder not to despair as much over her fate and the fates of others back home. She's put on a happier front for the people she cares about in Luceti, as well as slowly learning to accept help from others when they offer it and may be able to open up more to people in the future about herself thanks to everything that happened back home in her absence. Even though she's still fresh from the invasion of the town and mourning the possibly loss of her friends and family back home, she is willing to hope that they are safe and that Yuu is okay. At first she might be in a bit of denial over things being wrong, but eventually she'll probably feel like telling the truth about herself to someone, as she has yet for anyone in Luceti to know about her true origins.

Strengths:

Physical: Even though Kyrie has little to no physical strength and can barely walk straight, she does have skill with flying, being an angel and all. She can even carry people when she's flying, no matter how heavy they might be. She also has some skills in the kitchen when it comes to cooking, and once she sets her mind to a task she will try as hard as possible to succeed. It is implied that she has other special abilities as an angel other than flying, but otherwise it's never directly stated what they are. Judging by the end of the game when she's attempting to protect Yuu from the invading soldiers, it appears that she can use her own body like a human (or rather, angelic) shield to protect someone.

Mental: Even though Kyrie has a childlike demeanor, she is quite capable of learning new things and seeking to learn more. She knows how to take care of herself and do things like cooking and cleaning, but still may need aid or direction from others at times. Kyrie is also artistic and creative, judging by her skill with crayon drawings that she likes to do, usually of the friends that she has made. Despite her young looks, she is actually mentally much older than she looks and has some idea of more older adult matters, but is still considered a relatively young angel and therefore decides to remain childish for the innocent bliss it brings.

Emotional: Kyrie is very quiet and shy and has that tendency to get upset a lot, but with the right encouragement and with friendship, Kyrie can be a happy and cheerful individual. She is almost always smiling as much as possible, especially around Yuu. She is very loyal and cares very deeply for the people close to her and will always go to their aid if they need it, no matter what. She deeply cares about all and hates none.

Weaknesses:

Physical: Kyrie is very frail. In fact, she can barely walk. She's always tripping every few couple of steps, but she always gets back up and continues on her way. The reason is because, as an angel, she never knew how to walk before until she came to Earth, which she was forced to walk instead of fly. She's slowly getting better at it to where she doesn't trip so much, but only if she has a crutch or someone's arm to hold on to, otherwise she's pretty hopeless.

Mental: Kyrie has an air of childlike innocence, however, the truth is, she is constantly burdened by the fact that the people of Earth are a doomed species about to be wiped out by the Second Flood that God is preparing to cast, which makes her feel very guilty and is always apologizing and crying every night that she can only save a few chosen people. She is very close to Yuu, and without him or her friends, she'll feel lost, so she nearly always needs someone close to her to watch out for her.

Emotional: She is a very shy and sensitive girl (as her feelings can get hurt pretty easily) and underneath her cheerful facade, she appears to be sad all the time. At night, her sorrow is so bad that she cries every night for all the people that die or are going to die, apologizing over and over again for not being able to save them, pretty much turning into a trainwreck when someone dies or is injured badly, even going far enough to blame herself for it if she feels she could of stopped it, even if there was nothing she could of done and it wasn't her fault that it happened: she still somehow feels responsible that, as an angel, she could of tried to do something to prevent bad things from happening.

Samples
(I did mine based on her returning to Luceti. If this is a problem, please let me know and I'll fix it!)

First Person: This place...? [There's some noise like someone breathing before they scramble to grab the journal to speak into; depending on who you are, this might be a familiar voice of a certain little girl]

H-hello? Can anyone hear me?

Um, this is Kyrie. I...I-I think I might of been here before, but I'm not sure. This is Luceti, right? It looks like that place from before...a-and the wings are here again...

...A-ah, I-I'm sorry if I'm wrong about this and if I'm bothering you! [She can be heard shuffling a bit more as she takes a few steps while holding the book] But um, if there's anyone there that can help me, I...I could use some...b-but of course you don't have to if you don't want to...

[There's a slight pause before she calls out softly] ...Yuu? A-are you here too? Did you come with me to Luceti this time? Or...

Third Person: A sensation like falling. Holding Yuu's hands as she unveiled her hidden wings, preventing him from being attacked by the invaded soldiers. Taking shaky steps out of the now desolate, quiet village town and into the unknown world...these were the last things she could remember, it all having happened so quickly, a whirlwind of activity, before she woke up and found herself lying on her back, staring up at the bright blue sky.

Kyrie sat up, continuing to look up at the never-ending blue. This sky felt familiar to her, somehow, even though there was no rain falling down on her face like it always usually was. There had been another place, she now began to remember, that was like this too. A place that didn't rain every day with no end in sight. As Kyrie craned her neck backward further, she spotted a flash of black against the blue.

Wings. Black wings that were foreign and yet as familiar to her as her usually white wings that would emerge from her back.

It couldn't be...had she somehow come back to that place again?

Luceti, she remembered. That had been it's name, right? After all this time, and she had forgotten. Even though she could remember having made a promise to herself that she wouldn't forget this place if she ever found a way home, never forget the wonderful people and friends that she had made here...

...Her friends! Kyrie found herself quickly sitting upright. She had forgotten about them too, but now...

Kyrie paused as she spotted a journal lying face-down on the ground a foot away from her, and she found herself pulling herself up, scrambling to pick up the book, vaguely remembering how to use it.

Would her friends still be here? ...And would they remember her from when she had been there before?
