The reason I'm up this late

Sep 23, 2005 02:30

Damn, it's been a long day. got a bunch of auctions posted, and several things shipped, put in more than an hour at the humane society, and an appearance at spinners & weavers meeting. came home briefly, and than left again to do the 10-2 shift looking after the animals that evacuees have brought with them to he red cross shelter at McNeil High. I actually had a few folks come in to see their pets during that time, too. I must say, that's the first time I've been in a high school in many years, and while some things look awfully familiar (that horrid institutional tile on the floors), some things are different. The room where they're keeping the animals is the Dance/Drill team gym. While the high school I went to had a drill team (but never a dance program), they certainly did not have their own gym. And I'd forgotten how much I hated the drill team people I was subjected to. So four hours in the drill team room left me with some terribly uncharitable thoughts about why on earth a group of 40 dancers would need 8 managers, and 10 "social officers", and why the hell, with all those responsible parties running around, nobody bothers to polish the silver. seriously, they have a bunch of awards that are silver platter plaques, that are tarnished absolutely all to hell. I'd be embarassed to display the stuff.
anyway, It's 4 more hours of barking dogs and dirty silver tomorrow, 6-10pm, and somewhere in there I need to remember to get some work done.

Edited to add:
Persephone, you are the exception. You've always been so cool that I forgot you were on drill team.

work, sleep, humane society
