Creativity Spell when I should be sleeping =/= Good for my health

They say that the first kill is always the most important one. The first kill is always the hardest kill. The omnipresent “They,” refers to her co-professionals.

She is not really sure about the truth of those statements. Her co-professionals seem to believe it, and she just nods along.

The few times she’s sat amongst them and been social, she’s realised that the “First Kill” is a popular topic for conversation. Once the topic is brought up, nothing is left unsaid: the scenario, the emotions, the adrenaline rush, the victim, the relation to the victim, the recovery from the incident, and entry into the business. She largely ignores those “discussions”, pegging them as some sort of bragging ritual, and generally focuses her interest on her tea. Even if she had to say something, she doubts her fellow co-professionals would want to be told how un-professional and unbecoming their behaviour is, their line of work taken into consideration. While their reactions would be amusing to say the least, she figures it’s not logical move. She has quite a number of people wanting to kill her already, thanks to work. Adding to that list is not the smartest of things to do.

‘So little lady,’ the man across the room calls out to her jovially, ‘why don’t you share your story? We’re all allies here!’

‘I’m afraid there isn’t much of a story to share,’ she replies distractedly, more interested in solving the crossword in the newspaper she’s reading.

‘C’mon now, it was your first kill! No-ones first kill is bland! What was your first kill like?’ he calls. He’s joined by cheers egging her on, much to her displeasure.

‘Like every other kill,’ she answers, brow furrowed in concentration, pen jotting down words. She doesn’t state more than that, because there really isn’t much to say, and proceeds to ignore the rest of the cafe's partons.

They say that the first kill is always the most important one. The first kill is always the hardest kill. The first person she ever killed was herself. She fails to comprehend the importance or difficulty of that.
