Baking Night
First off, it snowed. A lot. It didn't stop until mid afternoon. I think there were a good 3 or 4" on the ground this morning. A good amount stuck, but at least the roads are melting pretty well now.
Happy Fucking Beltane. =P No grass, NOTHING green, it's a big freekin' mud pit everywhere where all of this crap is melting. The only way you can tell it is actually May and not just March is the damn daylight. Sun's up super late.
At least I'm feeling a bit better about the whole dessert shitstorm for Friday. Betty and I were allowed a run to the store during work hours to get our supplies since we are on the Events Committee. Also everyone in the shop donated enough that we only had to kick in $10 each to get enough stuff.
Betty is making three different flavored cuppa cuppa cuppa pies, and some cookies from the tub of dough. And something else- I think?
I'm making a UAF themed layer cake: One layer will be blue the other yellow, and I might either color the frosting a little or just add blue and yellow sprinkles.
Plus various kinds of Rice Krispy Treats. Regular, Coco Krispy, and peanut butter.
I think I will bake the cake tonight, then MAYBE do a batch of two of the RKTs. I'm just glad I can split it over a couple of nights. It's so freekin' much easier this way.
Work was still just, well, THERE. I have my next Humera shots tomorrow afternoon, so I am going to ask the doc about the cough/lung thing I have going on. Maybe they will tell me to stay home for a few days. In that case I'll send Chris in with desserts and not even go to the party. I'd rather stay home and miss food to tell everyone the truth. I want to decompress.
On the nicer side of things, I'm reading The Unquiet Bones by Melvin R. Starr and enjoying it immensely! It is a murder mystery set in the middle of the 1300s. Sort of like Bones in the dark ages. I need to pick up the other 3 or 4 books in the series. Awesome find at the used book store. Sadly, I am really close to the end of the book. At least I have some more to look forward to when I find them.
I need to get a couple of packages sent out- books for Lois and a box of goodies to a friend in Australia! I have to make her some craftie things and do another box too. We are doing a little swap together! As soon as I find a damn box... I keep trying to grab them, but someone keeps stealing them when I put them by my stuff at work.
Thor is doing very well, I think he wants spring to arrive too. I really want to take him out on his harness so he can hop around in some grass. Eventually I guess. I also hope to find him a buddy to bond with this summer.
I know, big doings. I WILL get a house. I don't want to live in this apartment for another year. I need space.
I guess I should figure out dinner, so I can get the cake going and pay bills. Am I done being an adult yet?!
