My Computer Is Being A Bitch
Ever since I've come back here (UF) from Christmas Vacation, my computerhas started... acting... difficult.
THe reason behind that, I believe, is because UF is supposedly cracking down on people who use "Kazaa". Billy told me that someone he knew had their computer "privileges" suspended for a week b/c he had kazaa in his system.
What I guess they're doing is that they're sending "worms" throughout all the computers in the ethernet system to go into the files and check to see if there are any traces of Kazaa. I'm beginning to think this is WHY my computer is acting fucked up.
I have NOT changed my computer habits or my webpage habits from the fall to the spring. I find no other way to explain it except that its UF's intereference with those worms. Now, I'm not by any stretch, a techy, or a computer know-it-all.
My aol keeps acting fucked up. Since maybe the last week, I can't sign on without it freezing the first time. I have to restart and sign on a second time. ALSO, when I try to change form one s/n to another, AOL freezes there too!
My roommate has Norton Anti-Virus so every time the UF system tries to send a worm into his system, it treats it like a virus and repels it and tells him that someone from Gainesville, FL tried to send a virus to his system. He was away from his computer for an 18 hr time span a few days ago, AND the UF system sent EIGHT BUGS to his system, in JUST 18 HOURS!
I think I'm gonna try to get a new computer sometime before the Fall. COmputers are so cheap now. You can find them for under $1000. I know the first thing I'm gonan get for it is Norton Anti-Virus so that no outside computer can compromise that computer. I also wanna get one of those flat LCD screens or whatever, teh ones that are light and easay to carry and store. Ihave enough shit in my car when I'm moving, so why not get that and conserve space in my car? I don't touch my comptuer screen so that won't be an issue.
Does anyone here have any computer tips? jw...

My roommate told me about this thing to download on download.com, "adaware". Its supposed to find embedded files and delete them. I downloaded it last night and used it. There were 349 embedded files in my system.
I defraged after that. THere were soem probs defragging, but after I did a standard hard disk cleaning, it was able to defrag. It's STILL doing the same thigns with aol.
