Okay, I know it hasn't even been a week, but I figure if I'm going to hold myself accountable on my resolutions here, then I may as well just jump in.
The Good:
I have been eating a bit smaller portions at mealtimes, and I've been snacking less. I've even manages to avoid the various sweet temptations around the house for the most part. I tried out the new juicer I got from the family for Christmas and aside, from being kinda fun, the juice is quite tasty. I've only tried apple juice so far, so the next step is to get myself some other fruit and try mixing and matching.
I've caught myself getting grumpy occasionally stuck in traffic and dealing with pushy customers, but have by and large caught myself and reminded myself of the positives of the situation, allowing myself to enjoy things.
I took the Harry Potter pins James' sister gave me when we were at their house on Christmas and have actually followed through on the whole reason I took them - to make magnets. Ripped the backing out of all of them, got the magnets mounted and gorilla glued them in on one of them so far (the glue needs to sit for several hours clamped in place, so I can really only finish one at a time.) Also, sat down and started sketching some of the ideas I have that I'd like to make in terms of clothing/costuming. The ideas pretty far outstrip my skills at the moment, but I'd rather get them down on paper so I don't forget about them once I've got a few more basic projects under my belt. Speaking of, will be making a Denver Fabrics run this weekend. Got a gift certificate this weekend and have several patterns at home I'd still like to try. On the list at the moment: pirate shirts for James and I (we're going to a murder mystery playhouse in ...April? and it's got a pirate theme that night), ye olde pantaloons and nightshirts and the Jessica Rabbit dress.
I printed out my resolutions and hung them on the fridge with my new Harry Potter magnet. That way I'll see them every morning and be reminded of what I want to achieve.
The Bad:
Still not eating the healthiest food. Lots of cheese, creamy dressings, lots of pasta. Need more veggies. Perhaps my new juicer can help me with this. I'm no V-8 girl, but I'm willing to try mixing some carrot or celery juice into my fruit juices; in theory it tastes the same.
Even though I'm planning on going to Denver Fabrics this weekend, I haven't actually sat down with my patterns to look through them and see what I need to get, what colors/fabrics I'd like to use, etc. Probably won't have time tonight, but Saturday morning(ish) I should plan to take the time before James and I run errands.
Have not supported any positive endeavors (have reminded James to send in his rebates from building his sister a computer for Christmas several times though). Anyone working on something or want to work on something but you'd like a friendly reminder? Let me know what you're up to and I'll do my best to encourage/support/help/whatever!
Overall:
I feel like I've got more of "the Good" going on than "the Bad." We'll dub it a decent start, keep working, and see what the future brings.
