Slight Trauma

Today I went to see 28 Days Later. I really liked it. It's not at all a typical horror movie. Granted it does have the typical ferocious beastly creatures there to give you the instantaneous fear (especially the main character's first encounter with the creatures -can't really call them human anymore- when neither you nor him knows exactly what's happened or what they are), but surprisingly they are not the traumatizing factor of the movie. That honor belongs to 'the rest of the world'.

Since England is an island, and the virus spread so fast no one really had a chance to leave, that means the virus is only there. We find out that the rest of the world is fine. It knows what's happening, but they aren't helping. Not until they know there are no more risks, which means not until all the creatures starve (the infected don't seem to eat or drink), but that means not many survivors.

Sure, it's scary ( being abandoned to die), but I don't find that realistic given today's technology. With helicopters and guns, the rest of the world could have easily helped eliminate the infected without even having to get within contact range. But it is a movie with a small budget and it wouldn't have had much of a plot if the world had helped, lol.

Another point that does make it a little typical is that the main character doesn't seem to have any survival skills...which pretty much goes against human nature in this case. You don't willingly, and without a reason to, walk into a place you know you will be encountering a creature (stay with the others where it's safe you idiot!). You don't spend minutes on end parked with the motor running and burning gas while you are safe, when getting gas is a risk to being attacked (save your gas people!). You don't take sleeping pills when you are sleeping in the wide outdoors (why do you even WANT to sleep if you're a prey in an open field!).
Of course, I know these scenes were simply there to keep you on edge during an otherwise uninteresting journey.

Other than that, the acting was good, the dialogue didn't sound fake and set up, and the music was perfect for the movie.

Finishing off on a fun note:
Myr: *slut kiss*
Jay: *slut kiss* *slut kiss* *slut kiss*
Jay: oh baby I'm so excited I could go all night AND impregnate you with quintuplets
Myr: rofl
