i was talking about something
and he responded as if i was just going through the motions
as if what i was saying didn't mean anything because i'd be over it in the next couple of days
and i thought about it
does he expect me to not continue looking for something real to hold on to?
because that's what i'm doing
that's what people do
and if it's as real and as good as it gets then they'll cling to it
and it's not until they find something newer, better, more genuine
that they realize how the thing they were clinging to before had none of these qualities
is it the change in them?
or the realization itself
that everything you think is beautiful, and genuine now
could be just a failed attempt
a wolf in sheeps clothing
a big fat lie
so do i/we continue trying to find real connections, or real love, or real friendship with people... even though everything in the past had failed
and everything you have now is likely to do the same?
it may feel right now, but that's only because you don't know the difference yet.
