I know what you mean. I update, on average, about once a month, but I have gone for 3 or 4 months at a time without ANY updates. It's just not something I think to do a lot. ( Although this month has seen more than the usual number of updates. Now that some notable things are finally happening to me. )
BUT I like catching up with people, and LJ can be a great way to do that, especially if you're already used to the system. ^_^ So I'll probably never leave LJ anytime soon.
I've completely dropped from FF.net for the time being. The fandoms I've been in the mood to think about/write about have been changing like crazy over the past few months, so I never bother to update or start anything new, because I know I'll never finish it, and, like you, that's a loose tooth in my mind. Also, the only one of my FF friends who still updates is Synch.
Neat that Shak's a Bebo friend of yours...I still talk to her sometimes, but not all that often anymore, mainly because I have become so hellishly hard to catch online. In addition to classes, homework, and chores ( I live in a family of 5, 2 of which are complete and total slobs ), I play a lot of video games, so I'm only on the Net for a total of about 2 hours on and off on a typical day. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I'll come on, check my email, do what I need to do, and get off.
Myspace sucks rancid pork-butt: the whole site has the look and feel of being laid out by a team of stoned chimpanzees. I regret having ever made an account there; I hate everything about it.
COMMENT SPAM (Sorry, I should have replied in one big comment but I'm not that smart. Until now, and it's too late -_-')
Lol I have never ventured close enough to MySpace to find out what it *actually* is.
I would absolutely recommend Bebo, although some people hate it. I suppose because it can be very addictive, especially if a lot of people you know are on it, because you can find yourself pretty much stalking them. But one of the reasons I like it so much is because it's kind of like a delayed IM, so you don't have to reply to individual posts if you just want to shoot the breeze, and you can still chat even if it's going to take a few days to finish the conversation.
Busy-ness is a chore. *sigh* I can sympathise with that, unfortunately. But it's such a Catch 22 because I'm so used to being busy that when I have a holiday I bore my socks off.
You should get one! I know Captain's on there, but I don't know her enough to 'friend' her myself. And if you don't know many people on it... poach some of mine lol!

Would you recommend Bebo, then?
