Stars or nothingness? Anything, Anyone, Anywhere?

If the stars are the most beautiful, perfect things we know and nothing is beyond the stars, then is it just a paper backdrop, some thin wallpaper that when penetrated there is nothingness behind it?

Things seem to get more complicated or simpler as time goes on...
