BOOKS:
I've started reading Temeraire book 1: His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik

naominovik (again--I stopped earlier this year, wasn't in the right mind for it). I now love that story and its dragon-MC Temeraire. He's SO CUTE. So charming, likeable, insightful, perceptive, just plain likeable character. I can't wait to see what adventures he has and where his story is leading to. 4,5 books was it?
Anyway, I got sidetracked and couldn't help but be lured to the Chronicles of Pern by Anne McCaffrey. Dragon stories again ^^.
I'm reading the first of the series: Dragonflight
Not sure what to think of it yet, have not read much yet, but maybe the connection and affinity with Pern dragons will come later in the book?
(with Temeraire, he had me at, "Why are you frowning?" XD)
EDIT: I stalled on Temeraire book 1 to read Pern book 1. And now I know I prefer Temeraire. Laurence and Temeraire have intrigued me as characters, but not Pern's Lessa or F'lar... or Mnementh or Ramoth (the dragons).... disappointing really, since everyone speaks so well of the Dragonriders of Pern.... Well, maybe the next Pern books will hook me? I hope so?... For now, I'm going back to Temeraire series.
Just to add: The thing I missed about Temeraire while reading Dragonflight was the "realistic" addition of the dragon harnesses. In Pern, the dragonriders/the book doesn't mention any sort of harness to keep the rider from falling off the dragon. Whereas in Temeraire, there are constant mentions of harnesses and staying in the harness, harness coming lose -- there's a real fear of the riders falling off the dragons if they weren't harnessed to the dragons properly. I love that. It's those little rules in a story that make it seem more "real", solid, convincing... thus intriguing and I'll read more of it. You can see these rules/restrictions in Harry Potter world as well, and you know how well that goes. aaaaah...^______^
