That's what I meant. His body language is clear, even in this picture. The diplomatic response is obviously to shake hands with other countries' leaders, no matter who they are. I don't know what people were expecting him to do.
Right. I saw the video of Chavez coming over to Obama while he was sitting down, he just wanted to meet him. Obama stood up, barely made eye contact, shook his hand, and sat back down quickly, looking like "Whew, glad that's over"
I'm not sure how this other picture got taken, I highly doubt it's some secret handshake.
The handshakes looks like more than a diplomatic handshake to me. A lot of Venezuelans in Miami aren't happy about it. I would expect a diplomatic handshake to look a lot differently and for them to have more serious or stern looks on their faces.
I think Obama is too eager to kiss up to people like Chavez, Castro, and Ahmadinejad. He's sending YouTube videos to Iran and expecting to be taken seriously. It would be nice if we could jsut sign agreements and live peacefully with these sort of leaders, but as we saw in the 1930's a contract is only as good as the people agreeing to it. If the person or government agreeing to the treaty isn't trustworthy, the contract isn't worth the paper its written on.
