Marlins Swept By The Nationals?

If the Marlins are going to win the NL East, they're gonna have to at least win 2 out of 3 form teams like the Pirates and the Nationals. OK, well the Nationals are a decent team so far this year, but will it last? And losing 3 of 4 to the Pirates is just inexcusable.

THe Marlins 2 big problems are...1)middle relief, but that's probably all the other 29 teams in teh league too. and 2) clutch hitting. I heard on the telecast today that we have the HIGHEST batting avg in the Naitonal League (probably mostly thanks to Miguel Cabrera) but we're only 9th in the NL in runs. We can't continue to have games where we have 3 runs on 12 hits. When people get on base, we need to bring them home.

I was looking at stats of players that have been struggling like... Danny Kolb who was the Braves closer. I think maybe they've been trying to get him to strike out too many hitters. Last year when he was an all-star for the Brewers, his K/9 ratio was 2.00 something or 3.00 something. THis year its above 8.00. If he just kept the ball down and got people to ground into outs instead of trying to strike everyone out, he'd probably be doing better.

Its All-Star voting time and I wrote about this in the mlb community yesterday. Some players who are being voted in obviously deserve it. People like AL SS Miguel Tejada, AL 3B A-Rod, AL C- Jason Varitek, and a few others. But there are some people like NL SS- Nomar Garciaparra, NL 3B- Scott ROlen, NL C Mike Piazza who have been injured most of the season and/or don't deserve to be in the All-Star game.

I don't understand how Carlos Beltran is #1 in All-Star voting in OF and Ken Griffey Jr is #3, when Bobby Abreu of the Phillies and Miguel Cabrera of the Marlins deserve to be starting much more. They're 6th and 5th, respectively. A few Marlins that deserve to be in the All Star game are definitely Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle WIllis. Borderline calls could be Josh Beckett, maybe Carlos Delgado, and maybe Paul LoDuca b/c the Catcher position is so weak in the NL.
