Re-adjusting

I am one month in to working at the new paper. It's been a re-adjustment, to say the least.

I've spent pretty much the past 10 years working until midnight every night, and going home much later than that. Now I'm home by 10 most nights, except for Sundays, which is when I put the paper together. My progression with getting the first four issues done has been: 3 a.m., 1 a.m., 1 a.m., 10:30 p.m. It does get easier.

But I'm happy. The community likes the new paper, all that old daily stress is starting to evaporate, and I'm finding myself getting more interested in the world again (TV shows! Current events!). I can do work from the comfort of home now, and without the constant pressure of that midnight deadline. I've been doing this for almost 15 years - I think I've earned a little bit of comfort.
