D610

My new camera arrived! And it's a camera! And it works! And it's a UK model! And Nikon product registration accepted the serial number (which I know has at least some validation checks against it)! But the box seal was broken (despite the eBay listing saying "sealed") and I'm not necessarily seeing all the warranty documentation I'd expect. So... what is it? A manufacturer refurb? Maybe, but again, I'm not seeing the documentation I'd associate with that. So we'll see what happens when I try to get the warranty. Still, given that I was looking at importing grey market, I'd have had no warranty there either.

But anyway, how is it? It's good. Sharp. I mean sharp. I always had a slight suspicion that the focus on my D7000 (my old camera) was out and this would seem to confirm. I have a camera that can focus properly now u gaiz! The low light focus and performance is great, something the D610 is known for. The depth of field with my new 50mm f/1.8 lens is pretty bitchin', all of which can be seen in a quick test shot I took of my kitteh in a dark room:
