I'll admit it: I stopped reading after the third or fourth chapter into Syaroan's flashback about how cute Sakura was when she was tiny. Yeah, here I though the Fay exposition was bad, but all the overblown torture was kind of entertaining in its own way, and it actually moved along a bit faster than this one did. And we still have no answers about what the hell really is going on in the story ATM and what became of Clow country. I'm assuming that Syaroan promised Yuuko his firstborn for turning it into the place it is when the series starts, and that the logic of how that happened probably is something that I don't really want to know.
But after the last couple of chapters, I need to get this off my chest:
Sakura better be THE SECOND FUCKING COMING OF CHRIST. Because if not, the hysteria about saving her life is idiotic to the point where... God, the comparisons fail me. Did nobody ever tell Syaroan and Nadeshiko that people die? When they get old? Or ill? Or fall down the stairs? Dying is kind of an essential part of living, and I'm saying this because of how often it was repeated that Sakura Will Die. No shit, Sherlock; with how often the finality of death has been reinforced in various CLAMP series, we had noticed.
And then the obsession with stopping her from dying. Admittedly, we don't know why Fei Wan Reed chose to "engrave her with the seal of death", but nobody has actually come up with an explanation about why Sakura's death would be so incredibly much worse than the death of any teenage girl. I mean, yeah, she's cute and she's a princess and she has great magical powers. But unless she is destined to stop Fei Wan Reed "granting his wish", I... well.
Wouldn't it have been more noble of him to ask Yuuko to give him the ability to cure cancer or something instead?
