Thank you! The weird thing is, I had seriously forgotten about this, and then when I started doing the meme about "the DVD of an excerpt from a story," I ran across while I was looking for an old story! And I said "hey, look at this!" and Blackmare said "hey, here's where I think it goes!" and BOOM, it was done. :D
The other weird thing, though, was that it stirred up so many memories of that episode, and I've come to think that it couldn't be finished when I started it because we needed some distance. That was a really, really ... explosive episode in fandom. And it seriously would not surprise me at all if House had thought about pulling the trigger or swimming out and not coming back.
And! I have to catch up on your Amish Honeymoon cycle! I am really enjoying it. *g*

That stuff you mention is all Nightdog's. That thing about the dreams, yeah. Got me. I've never been sure House really went anywhere other than Out Of His Mind after that crash, but if he really was on some tropical beach, I like to think this is more or less how it went.

He's found it works best if he thinks of House as dead. Not gone away, not in prison, just ... dead. Killed in the crash, he tells himself. Support beam fell on him. House never emerged from the car, never spoke to him, never sauntered off down the street. Never could have killed him. Never left him, the son of a bitch.
And yeah, I never watched the "Twenty Vicodin" episode that opened the last season, and I don't think I was really prepared, in a way, to be the same kind of fan I'd been of the show until the cancer arc started. I had a real love/hate relationship with the cancer arc -- the medicine was so abysmally bad, but the performances by HL and RSL were so amazing. :D
Thank you so much for reading! ♥

You're killing me here. This is great stuff. There isn't that much from Wilson's POV in general and to get an insight to what he was thinking is wonderful. I agree with you that it might have been easier all around from Wilson's POV to just imagine him dead. No one wants to abandoned. I hope you write this someday.
I don't think I was really prepared, in a way, to be the same kind of fan I'd been of the show until the cancer arc startedI felt like a trick was played on the viewer in the sense that what we thought was the core of House himself, wasn't at all. I argued back and forth with a few fans the idea of whether or not anyone can just loose it one day, and maybe people can, but the walking away was too much on ( ... )

I couldn't help but think that House would have had a good time for a few weeks or a few months, but Blackmare and I pretty much agreed that he would've gotten bored after that. Finding a friend like Wilson is a lightning strike -- would it have happened again halfway around the world?
